Don't trust CCP
Revisado: 08-16-22
I love Fiction books that contain Non-Fiction information. Great thriller that describes the attitude of the Chinese regime in world politics and the effect on countries like India, Pakistan, Russia, ect. Another great Scot Harvath story. I love that way he worked with Indian authorities to stop the Chinese from assassinating India's political stars. This book explains how the Chinese gather information about citizens from multiple countries through the digital apps (like TikTock), throw big money into countries to boost their economy, then use their economic influence to get these countries to do their dirty work. There is a reason why India made it illegal to download Chinese and Russian apps on mobile devices.
The book is well written, and I learned a lot about the Indian culture, holidays, and the beauty of the country. all in a Horvath thriller!

Historia
A United Nations relief team in a small village in the Congo makes an alarming discovery. An unknown force is leveling the evolutionary playing field. Men, women, and children have been reduced to a dull, catatonic state. The environment surrounding them—plants and animals—has grown more cunning and predatory, evolving at an exponential pace. The insidious phenomenon is spreading from a cursed site in the jungle — known to locals as the Kingdom of Bones —and sweeping across Africa, threatening the rest of the world.

Revisado: 06-10-22
One of the best Books I have ever read. Even as a retired physician,I learned a lot about microorganisms and viruses from this book. Excellent story, great characters. Couldn’t put it down. Loved the mixing of historical non-fiction information and science in a fiction novel. Rollins is among the best.

I’ve read all of Ben Coes books, Vince Flynn, Brad Thor and several similar authors, and The Island is one of the best. Extremely exciting and suspenseful till the very end. The whole Scenario and plot to kill the president and destroy the Fed is very scary.

Historia
Detective Isaac Bell's wife has said that he is always in the wrong place at the right time. This is certainly the case when Bell thwarts the assassination of a US senator shortly after meeting the man. This heroic rescue is just the start of the mystery for Bell, who suspects that the would-be assassins have a much larger and more dangerous agenda - one involving the nearly constructed Panama Canal. While the senator supports the building of the canal, there are many, including a local Panamanian insurgency known as the Red Vipers, who never want to see its completion.

Historia
A game-changing peace treaty between Israel and the Saudis is nearly done. The secretary of state is headed to the region to seal the deal. And Special Agent Marcus Ryker is leading an advance trip along the Israeli-Lebanon border, ahead of the secretary’s arrival. But then Ryker and his team are ambushed by Hezbollah forces. The last thing the White House can afford is a new war in the Mideast that could derail the treaty and set the region ablaze. U.S. and Israeli forces are mobilizing to find the hostages and get them home, but Ryker knows the clock is ticking.

Great insight into the current state of the Middle East
Revisado: 04-12-21
Wonderful book about peace in the Middle East and the forces that fight against it. Marcus Ryker is a fictional character that is the hero of the series, and he never disappoints. As someone who has studied the history of Israel and has visited there several times, the knowledge of Sunni Muslim peace with Israel is a dream of the Israelis. After following Trump’s Abraham Accords, it is a big step to peace and prosperity in the Middle East to get The UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco to sign the treaty. Hopefully, this will lead to Saudi Arabia and other Arab states to follow suit!

Leon Uris magnificently portrays the birth of a new nation in the midst of enemies - the beginning of an earthshaking struggle for power. Here is the tale that swept the world with its fury: the story of an American nurse, an Israeli freedom fighter caught up in a glorious, heartbreaking, triumphant era. Here is Exodus - one of the great best-selling novels of all time.

Beautiful story with history of modern Israel
Revisado: 12-18-17
What made the experience of listening to Exodus the most enjoyable?
Reading the book just before I was visited Israel made the trip so meaningful. The story was wonderful coming from a prospective of both a non-Jewish nurse and early Jewish settlers. The blood, sweat, and tears, the hopes and hardships, and the culmination of many miracles, set the stage for the beginnings of the State of Israel. The fight to start, build, and defend a new country was an amazing feat. Every area of the country I visited had meaning and purpose from reading this book. One of the best books I have every read in my 61 years.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Barak Ben Canaan because he and his brother left the "Pale" in Russia to escape the Pogroms that killed their family and they walked thousands of miles to the land of Israel. Their hard work and commitment to start Kibbutzism began the ability to jump start a nation and restore their original homeland from 3500 years ago.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the British finally allowed the Exodus to sail to Palestine.
If you could rename Exodus, what would you call it?
Coming Home
Any additional comments?
A great read for all, but a must read for all Jewish people.

Historia
The Knights of the Golden Circle was the largest and most dangerous clandestine organization in American history. It amassed billions in stolen gold and silver, all buried in hidden caches across the United States. Since 1865 treasure hunters have searched, but little of that immense wealth has ever been found. Now, 160 years later, two factions of what remains of the Knights of the Golden Circle want that lost treasure - one to spend it for their own ends, the other to preserve it.

Must read for history buffs
Revisado: 05-17-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Lost Order to be better than the print version?
I have both. I love the Audiobook because it is sometimes hard to determine which character is saying a line when reading the book, but Scott Brick is a gifted reader and will clarify a section. On the other hand, the Illistrations of the 5 stones in the book are priceless. Also, names are easier to follow in the printed book.
What did you like best about this story?
History of the civil war, Smithsonian and the South, and a full explanation of the way government works is a gem! That's why I say this book is a must for everyone. Also, the description of the Smithsonian is outstanding. I haven't been there sine 1983, and now that I am retired, I will arrange to take my grandkids there is the near future.
Which scene was your favorite?
Always when the heroes find the vault!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Several. Cassiapeia saving Cotton from the shaft, Cotton shooting Frank Breckenrich, the poem Cotton found in his Great grandfather's journal, and the effigy of Cotton Adams in the vault.
Any additional comments?
Steve Berry is a brilliant writer (my favorite). In hope we don't have to wait very long for the next one.

Very entertaining book
Revisado: 03-16-13
Would you listen to The Columbus Affair again? Why?
I will listen to it again in the future. Great book. Steve Berry's use of historical events and mysteries is ingenious. This one is of particular interest because of the subject of the lost Temple Treasures.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. I am fascinated with the history of Christopher Columbus and Luis de Torres. The fact that a lot of this information is true is intreging. I've read a lot of books about the Temple treasures and I like the hypothesis that it was sent the the New World. If you're Jewish, how can you resist the romantic stories of the lost sacred Golden Menorah.
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
I love Scott Brick, but his old country Jewish accent needs work! Listening to Scott Brick is like listening to an old friend talk. Many authors I like use Scott Brick to do the reading, and he makes you feel comfortable. He is on the top narrators list with guys like George Guidell.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The Secret Voyage of Christopher Columbus. The fourth and final Trans-Atlantic journey of Biblical significance.

When Jonathan's firm sends him to Rome to discredit the testimony of a prominent U.N. antiquities official, a chance reunion leads to a hunt for the legendary Tabernacle Menorah: solid gold, eight feet high, stolen 2,000 years ago and never recovered. As Jonathan and his friend scour Rome's ancient sites for hints to its whereabouts, they quickly realize they are not alone and the precious menorah is a key to controlling history itself.

Outstanding first book by Levin
Revisado: 01-04-11
One of the best books that I have read or have listened to. Fast paced, unpredictable, entertaining, and educational. I love novels with a history background, and this subject matter is outstanding. While reading/listening to this book, I googled many of the historical references, and found the story background to be true, and very fascinating. Levin has written a novel with the same quality as Steve Berry, James Rollins, and Clive Cussler. One thing I would like to see Levin do in future books is to have a chapter at the end of the book to explain what is true, and what is factious, like Brown, Berry and Rollins. It kind of puts a finishing touch to their novels. All in all, a great book.
