So Sorry..........but this was NOT GOOD
Revisado: 09-22-17
I just finished a long series that took me several months. I was looking for a new cozy mystery series and this sounded good. I hate writing a bad review but geeez. I've never heard so many adjectives crammed into sentences in my life. The narration was off by trying to sound over dramatic and seductive, it just didn't fit a cozy mystery. I listened to the whole thing thinking it would improve. By the end of the book I couldn't even tell you what had just happened. Absolutely horrible.

Historia
As owner of Coffee, Books, and More, Jill Gardner looks forward to the hustle and bustle of holiday shoppers. But when the mayor ropes her into being the liaison for a new work program, 'tis the season to be wary. Local businesses are afraid that the interns will be delinquents, punks, or worse. For Jill, nothing's worse than Ted Hendricks - the jerk who runs the program. After a few run-ins, Jill's ready to kill the guy. That, however, turns out to be unnecessary when she finds Ted in his car - dead as a doornail.

Missing Something
Revisado: 01-19-17
Any additional comments?
While I enjoy all the books in this series, this one appeared to be missing something. I felt like the character was killed off too quickly. I would have liked to know more about the character so I could have reacted to the killing.

Not my favorite in the series but worth listening to. I wasn't a fan of how they portrayed the Aunt in this book. It made me not want to like her. In previous books I adored her. I thought it was a strange turn.

Historia
Former English professor Cat Latimer is back in Colorado, hosting writers' retreats in the big blue Victorian she's inherited, much to her surprise, from none other than her carousing ex-husband. Now it's an authors' getaway, but Cat won't let anyone get away with murder. The bed-and-breakfast is open for business, and best-selling author Tom Cook is among its first guests. Cat doesn't know why he came all the way from New York, but she's glad to have him among the quirkier - and far less famous - attendees.

So Disappointed
Revisado: 01-19-17
Any additional comments?
I love the Tourist Trap series by the same author and I listen to them while I commute to work everyday. I was relieved when I realized this series spins off of that series. I thought I would start this series to buy some time until the next Tourist Trap book is published. Boy was I wrong. The narration was way too dramatic for my taste. Sounded unnatural. The story had too many elements and characters going on to focus on "who dunnit". I found it hard to stay engaged with the story. I'm hopeful the next one will improve. If not, I'm done with this series. If you haven't listened to Tourist Trap...go there first.

A little disturbing
Revisado: 11-13-16
What did you love best about Behind Closed Doors?
Trying to figure out how she was going to get out of a hopeless situation.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. I was anxious for her to turn the tables.
Which scene was your favorite?
When she found out her plan had worked and I could exhale.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened to it while I commute to work each day.
Any additional comments?
I actually had trouble with this book in the beginning. The "control" situation took me out of my comfort zone. His whole plan was very dark and disturbing and didn't know if I would listen to the whole thing but once you could see her forming a plan I found myself looking forward to her getting her revenge.

The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

May need a notepad for this one
Revisado: 11-13-16
Where does The Girl on the Train rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This was my first audiobook and I enjoyed it.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. It gives you enough characters to keep you guessing.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the two women that have always hated each other end up on the same side of the situation. Good twist. Didn't see that coming.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The description of the scene in the bathtub. Disturbing.
Any additional comments?
I felt like I needed a notepad to keep track of all the dates. The book jumps around from character to character and days to days. When your listening to the dates, I found it hard to relate the same dates with the other characters. If I was reading the book, I could have flipped back to remind me who else had commented on that day.

Historia
Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first Lo's stay is nothing but pleasant: The cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, and gray skies fall.
