Fascinating and exciting Listen

If you have caught any headlines mentioning a financial scandal that mentions Malaysia fund 1MDB, Goldman Sachs, and hundreds of millions of dollars in funds that they made from the shady deals that they advised on, but thought it was to epic to wrap your head around...have a listen to this. It's essentially a modern tale of financial theft and excess that makes the Wolf of Wall Street seem like child's play. Hilariously, the main perpetrator was also instrumental in bringing Wolf of Wall Street to the box office. Thrilling read, focusing mainly on a little known loser named Jho Low, desiring a life that only the wealthiest billionaires could attain yet so lavish that even semi legitimate billionaires would never live because it would bankrupt them in a matter of a few years. Completely absurd and pathetic man whose actions will wreak havoc on Malaysia's economy well after he's dead. Had the financial system not completely dropped the ball or if he had managed this theft in a somewhat sustainable way, then maybe he would deserve a modicum of respect, however it mainly just highlights the easily gamed global financial market and easily corruptible politicians and powerful financiers.

wow, just wow

Blown away, completely and utterly blown away. This story was incredible, written beautifully, and delivered well. I am left in a sense of awe and wonder at the life and struggles of the author and what she was able to form from it. I am not nearly as strong.

I tried to be frugal listening to this but the book evaporated before me. My favorite so far and for a moment I worried that topping it in the final book would be impossible. The story, the characters, and the author have evolved so well together.

Phenomenal

This story is wild and the author did an insane amount of research to tell it right. This is so much more than the telling of a criminal kingpin that you most likely never heard of. It explains why you never heard about it, detailing the bizarre approach that the southern district of NY and federal government took, and the reasoning behind not wanting it to get out. Fascinating listen, highly recommend.

I'm a huge Lewis fan and this piece, albeit short, is typical to his story-telling style that makes all of his non fiction a pleasure to read or listen to. Only gripe is its not long enough but it certainly is packed full of research.

A timeless classic

A seriously wonderful story that endures 30 years after it was first published. Going back and enjoying the hey day of science fiction sometimes doesn't withstand decades...this surely does and will surely withstand decades more.

Sheesh its good

I am a big sci fi fan and after consuming some more recently produced trilogies and series, i have to say its well worth it to hit the classics. The density and quality of this book puts a lot of recent sci fi to shame. If one were to put this content in the hands of a sci-fi writer of today's time, they would have watered it down to create a trilogy in no time, a trilogy that would still be pretty great. Highly highly recommended.

This was delightful to find. My girlfriend wasn't too pleased to find me laughing out loud in bed at the AI Skippy being downright hilarious, but I loved every bit of it.

solid finish to trilogy

Cixin Liu did a really nice job of closing out the series. Unfortunately, it is an extremely tall order to follow up the dark forest, and its impossible to close out a series with a climax like that found in book 2. So appreciative of having the opportunity to enjoy such a terrific work from this writer.
