The ring is tiny, for a woman, and it has her initials engraved on the inside. Reacher wonders what unlucky circumstance made her give up something she earned over four hard years. Another GREAT Reacher story
Revisado: 01-11-18
Loved it. Great treatment of wounded vets issue & told well & about as sensitive as I have ever heard of Reacher being. It was not out of character but it was a 'softer' side.

Best Story (in a long time)
Revisado: 08-19-17
This (audio book) was one of the most compelling stories I have 'read' in some years. The continued struggle to stay in love, remain hopeful and always look (or hope) for the positive in some of the most heart-wrenching circumstances life could throw at this family was compelling and uplifting. Loved this Book!

Historia
How do we fulfill our conflicting duties as father, husband, and son; wife and mother; child and adult? Jew and American? How can we claim our own identities when our lives are linked so closely to others’? These are the questions at the heart of Jonathan Safran Foer’s first novel in eleven years—a work of extraordinary scope and heartbreaking intimacy. Unfolding over four tumultuous weeks in present-day Washington, D.C., Here I Am is the story of a fracturing family in a moment of crisis.

this book could potentially alert the reader to a problem. However, the person should then go see a therapist in person & do not think t his book will provide answers.

Historia
C. S. Lewis's dazzling allegory about Heaven and Hell - and the chasm fixed between them - is one of his most brilliantly imaginative tales, where we discover that the gates of Hell are locked from the inside. In a dream, the narrator boards a bus on a drizzly afternoon in Hell and embarks on an incredible voyage to Heaven. Anyone in Hell is invited on board, and anyone may remain in Heaven if he or she so chooses. But do we really want to live in Heaven?

The title has always kept me away. However, as 'simplistic as the title is the level of complex challenge to 'standard' philosophical thought about Christian teaching is equaled in display and argument.

Historia
In The Gardener and the Carpenter, pioneering developmental psychologist and philosopher Alison Gopnik argues that the familiar 21st-century picture of parents and children is profoundly wrong - it's not just based on bad science, it's bad for kids and parents, too. Drawing on the study of human evolution and her own cutting-edge scientific research into how children learn, Gopnik shows that although caring for children is profoundly important, it is not a matter of shaping them to turn out a particular way.

Revisado: 03-07-17
At some level this book felt so much more personal. I have always loved the author's "reporting" on the latest discoveries. So, coming across a book where she opens up her soul, so to speak, was welcomed & refreshing! it was nice to hear that even a grandparent research scientist is ..... still a grandparent. This was a most enjoyable read.

The spirit of our times can appear to be one of joyless urgency. As a culture we have become less interested in the exploration of the glorious mind, and more interested in creating and mastering technologies that will yield material well-being. But while cultural pessimism is always fashionable, there is still much to give us hope.

Revisado: 01-30-17
Excellent review of a considered life. Ultimately, it did not answer questions I have about Christianity; but, she certainly gave me another direction to pursue in my Quest & it is a direction I had not previously considered. Thank you, Ms. Robinson.
