Historia
Susan Burton's world changed in an instant when her five-year-old son was killed by a van driving down their street. Consumed by grief and without access to professional help, Susan self-medicated, becoming addicted first to cocaine then to crack. As a resident of South Los Angeles, a Black community under siege in the War on Drugs, it was but a matter of time before Susan was arrested. She cycled in and out of prison for over 15 years; never was she offered therapy or treatment for addiction.

Enlightening

Thanks for the stats. I decided to do a research paper for a class. The paper involved understanding the issues that women in prison deal with and their needs. The statistics at the beginning of each chapter really helped and I finished the book in two days. I'll be listening again.

Historia
What happens when a nineteen-year-old boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of South American Indians? For Bruce Olson, it meant capture, disease, terror, loneliness, and torture. But what he discovered through trial and error has revolutionized the world of missions. Bruchko, which has sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide, has been called "more fantastic and harrowing than anything Hollywood could concoct."

I loved the true story. it's a great testimony of God's power. I think the narrator wined too much when speaking Bruce's voice, but I think he did well trying to imitate various cultures. Overall it was a great book! Very Inspiring

Historia
America's blueprint for mass education has been followed across the globe - yet international student assessments show that achievement varies sharply, with the US and much of Europe typically scoring average at best. Not surprisingly, this state of affairs has sparked anxieties about an educational crisis. The problem, if there is one, is highly complex, and in these 24 thought-provoking lectures led by an associate professor of comparative and international education, you'll take a meaningful look at education around the world to understand why.

Not Much Substance
Revisado: 07-25-16
I made it through half the book. From what I read, it did not have much substance. The message I received was that we cannot compare educational systems and that was message was given repeatedly with different examples.
