Silly characters and unbelievable plot.
It was a mindless book to listen to while doing yard work!
Narrator—just seemed off with her over emphasis on diction.

Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.

Story definitely kept my interest—but WAY overuse of the bad language. Ugh.
Other than that, the narrator did a good job.

Beautiful story set in two of my favorite places—AZ & MS! Having lived in both places, I loved the author’s weaving of this story into these rich settings. I liked the pace of the story as Eva’s character grew, and the story unfolded.
Highly recommend! Great narrator!

Cast out by her own family, Nora can't reconcile with old Amish ways or her strict father. Missed opportunity
Revisado: 08-19-22
Nora’s story of traumatic abuse by a bishop when she was young provides the backdrop for her return to this seemingly picturesque Amish town. However, I feel like Hubbard missed an opportunity to speak into the horror left in situations like this. It seemed like the bishop’s sexual assault of her at 16, his use of his powerful position to tie her silence to her salvation, & her own father’s rejection of her at this tender age, was all just glossed over. The issue of respect for women and girls—even in a male dominated faith like the Amish—should have been developed into this story of Nora’s coming home. Although her father eventually came around, this could have been a teaching point within the story, as well as Nora’s healing path from this trauma.

Historia
As a bright season brings a fresh start to Willow Ridge, Annie Mae Knepp feels she can never make peace with the past. Her disgraced ex-bishop father is furious she has taken her five siblings to live with her. She's never been truly at home in her faith...or in believing in herself. And Annie Mae fears no man will want to take on the responsibilities she's gladly shouldered. True, her quiet neighbor, Adam Wagler, has been steadfast and unshakeable in helping her through her trials, but he surely couldn't think of someone so lost as more than a friend.

Annie Mae’s Story
Revisado: 08-18-22
Hubbard does a good job of developing Annie Mae’s story in this story of pain, despair and then resilience. It’s hard to see the ongoing abuse her father wages on her, her siblings, and the community that follows the Amish custom of avoiding conflict. I hope Hiram’s brash dismissal of the true heart of their faith is resolved in the next book in the series.

Storyline doesn’t add up
Revisado: 08-15-22
This one was disappointing after listening to previous ones. Rhoda supposedly madly in love with an English divorced single dad after working for him for less than a week? Really? And he had to be at least 10 years older? I thought Amish could not marry divorced people—that was never addressed.
And a new grad RN can run his own medical practice? I don’t think so!
This one was disappointing and felt like the author did not research her storylines well.
Narrator did a good job despite a poor story.

Sweet Amish Story
Revisado: 08-09-22
This story was somewhat predictable but a story of Amish and English whose paths cross in an amazing tale. There’s lots of food-talk….like every Amish book I’ve ever read—so don’t read if you’re on a diet!
The overbearing bishop in this story brings to light aspects of the Amish community that are unfortunate as he seeks power and control. But there was good character development as others navigated his control.
Narrator did a good job.

Revisado: 08-03-22
Whitlow has given us another great novel that includes mystery, romance, and faith.
Narrator does a really good job of telling the story as an audible book.
This is the second book in this series and recommend reading the previous one to give this one context.
