Definitely Worth A Listen
Revisado: 03-18-24
The first 20 minutes didn't really keep my attention and I almost stopped listening, but I'm so glad I didn't. The story was very entertaining, suspenseful, with a lot of surprises. I finished it in about a day and a half.

Ugh!
Revisado: 03-08-23
Be advised that Book 2 DOES NOT use the same narrator as Book 1 which, in my opinion, ruined it. This narrator is atrocious! I blame myself for assuming it was the same narrator as the first book.
Aside from the poor narration, i felt the story was fairly predictable and the Faye character just became more irritating and insufferable as the book went on. No woman can be that clueless and naive.

One and Done
Revisado: 04-07-22
I just can't put myself through the secondki8 book in this series. Riley is just the most annoying and draining character. For a woman who carries a bug-out bag halfway across the country to a work conference, she has literally no survival instincts or awareness. Her continual whining and childish attitude when faced with a survival situation was like nails on a chalkboard.

Disappointment for a Joe Hart Fan
Revisado: 11-08-21
The story just did not keep my interest. I expected a better story from Joe Hart. The narrator was really bad on the male characters. She completely butchered the character who was supposed to have a Swedish accent. she made him sound like Count Dracula. I kept expecting her to say "I vant to bite your neck". she was awful.

Ugh...
Revisado: 07-28-21
I really wanted to care about the character of Hannah, but I just found myself increasingly annoyed with her and her constant weakness and driveling. The dog and the Liam are the only redeeming characters in the book. After looking ahead and seeing that there are currently 7 books in the series, I know there is no way I will be able to continue with the series.

Just Okay
Revisado: 07-24-21
The storyline was okay. In some ways Christian, the main character was more realistic than Mustain characters of the genre, but in other ways he was just super annoying and a wimp.
The narrator ruined the book for me more than anything else. Other than his narration of Christian, the rest of the voices he used were not great and the voices he used for the female characters were horrendous and grated on my nerves.

Historia

But she's been lying to her family, her friends, and the whole world since rescue helicopters scooped her and her fellow survivor, Dave Hall, off a deserted island in the South Pacific. Missing for almost two years, the castaways are thrust into the spotlight after their rescue, becoming media darlings overnight. But they can't tell the real story--so they lie.

Disappointment
Revisado: 07-14-21
I purchased this book after listening to "What It Seems" by Emily Bleeker which I actually enjoyed. this book, however, was a huge letdown. I expected there to be some really horrendous secrets the characters were covering up, but it was much ado about nothing really.
The dialog sounded like something a teenager would write (such as Kent calling Lillian "Girlie"). the questions and attitude coming from the reporter were completely unrealistic. I honestly could not wait for the book to end.

Just Okay
Revisado: 03-11-21
This is probably my least favorite of all the zombie genre books I've listened to thus far. I think a big part of it is due to the narrator. Although much of this book is a somewhat light-hearted version of a zombie novel, the scenes that should have been suspenseful or traumatic for the characters were read in the same comedic tone as the rest of the book. I just couldn't get emotionally invested in this book and have no desire to finish the series.

I Can't Past the Horrible Narration
Revisado: 08-26-19
I listened to a Sheldon Siegal book several years ago and really liked it, so I was excited to try this one, but, I can't past the first hour of this book due to the narrator. His style is so irritating. I thought I could get past it and just finish the book, but it's becoming like nails down a chalkboard and I've got to quit listening because I poke my ears out!

Complete Disappointment
Revisado: 08-31-16
Would you try another book from Susan Beth Pfeffer and/or Matthew Josdal?
Matthew Josdal's performance was cringeworthy at best. The book was difficult enough to get through, but his choppy performance and his inability to use voice inflection in the appropriate places added to my frustration with this book.
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed the first 3 books in the series but the 4th book really ruined my enjoyment of the series. The story almost seemed like it was written by a completely different author who knew very little of the first 3 books. John's character was completely unrecognizable from the earlier books and the whole plot surrounding the caste system was implausible, especially given the short time span from when the cataclysmic event happened to the time the 4th book commences. I ended up despising John and didn't really care much for Lisa's character either in this book. I honestly wish the 4th book would not have even been written.
