Historia
When an intricate old map is found stuffed into the walls of the bistro in Three Pines, it at first seems no more than a curiosity. But the closer the villagers look, the stranger it becomes. Given to Armand Gamache as a gift the first day of his new job, the map eventually leads him to shattering secrets. To an old friend and older adversary. It leads the former Chief of Homicide for the Sûreté du Québec to places even he is afraid to go. But must. And there he finds four young cadets in the Sûreté academy, and a dead professor. And, with the body, a copy of the old, odd map.

boringggggggggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!
Revisado: 07-31-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I don't know. . FIRST.. the story line [if you can call it that] was completely camouflaged by side stories that added next to nothing to the [so called] plot. partway through the story, you begin to loose interest and then [as I did] you don't finish the book.
Would you ever listen to anything by Eric Van Lustbader again?
I don't know..
Would you be willing to try another one of Holter Graham’s performances?
yes
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment

Historia
Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea in the first volume of The Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It's well written and the narration is first class
What did you like best about this story?

Have you listened to any of Paul Michael Garcia’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Disappointing U.S. Air Force manual on high tech
Revisado: 12-09-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Less high tech language on air craft and weapons and more on people involved in the story.
you had the feeling that you were listening to an Air Force Manual on aircraft. (BORING)
What could Dale Brown and Jim DeFelice have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Improve the story line . STOP trying to fill the pages of your short story to make it into a novel with all this HIGH TECH [for want of a better word] blabber, that most of your readers don't understand. Surely, you can do better?
Would you listen to another book narrated by Christopher Lane?
Lane is first class...Super
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Armageddon?

Historia
Happily retired in the village of Three Pines, Armand Gamache, former Chief Inspector of Homicide with the Sûreté du Québec, has found a peace he'd only imagined possible. On warm summer mornings he sits on a bench holding a small book, The Balm in Gilead, in his large hands. "There is a balm in Gilead," his neighbor Clara Morrow reads from the dust jacket, "to make the wounded whole." While Gamache doesn't talk about his wounds and his balm, Clara tells him about hers. Peter, her artist husband, has failed to come home. Failed to show up as promised on the first anniversary of their separation. She wants Gamache's help to find him. Having finally found sanctuary, Gamache feels a near revulsion at the thought of leaving Three Pines. "There’s power enough in Heaven," he finishes the quote as he contemplates the quiet village, "to cure a sin-sick soul." And then he gets up. And joins her.

Faraway...her best work....
Revisado: 10-15-14
Where does The Long Way Home rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
very ,very, very ,very, near the top....
What other book might you compare The Long Way Home to and why?
Because of it's difference in approach, storyline, depth, entanglement of the lives ,present and past, from Three Pines residents into the susurrus, soft , cast of this page grabbing Mystery, I pause to compare this work with any that I have read. It's whole makeup is different..
What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
EVERYTHING
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, BUT, it took me four sittings[I'm eighty years old] so I need my naps.
Any additional comments?
I believe that I have read all Penny's books and I keep coming back for more.{WHAT TALENT}

Not one of his best.
Revisado: 07-25-14
What did you like best about Mr. Mercedes? What did you like least?
The storyline was interesting and kept you hooked until near the end.
The end was drawn out and ,so unlike the great writing of King.
It would remind you of the ending of a Grade B movie.
It took the edge off the whole novel.
Would you recommend Mr. Mercedes to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes...But I would preface my recommend with...Good but not Great..
Did Will Patton do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
all around GREAT.
Do you think Mr. Mercedes needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No.. Nothing left to tell.
Any additional comments?
I've read other work by King and enjoyed every book to various degrees, but,I must say, this was not his best work..

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
the yarn is well written,The narration is 1st class.the story held your intrest to the end.

I've listened to many books and Dick Hill is,beyond doubt, one of the best in the audio book field
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
YES...We could have done without the lovemaking scenes. It degrades ,what is a well written book, and cheapens it downward, adding nothing of importance to the story.
