Highlights the Promises!
Revisado: 01-11-25
I have several other Simmons/Rodriguez books and I think this is the best!
So encouraging and enriching!
The book of Isaiah can be daunting but this devotional makes it very approachable.

Historia
Her Aunt Allegra said, "A young lady with a fortune is subject to all sorts of untoward attentions by the worst sort of vagrants." It is a lesson Tabitha Timmons, a penniless spinster, has never needed to heed. That is, until she is left a vast fortune payable only upon her marriage to the very respectable Mr. Barkworth - a match that offers little chance of discovering exactly what her aunt means by "untoward attentions." But the same can't be said when the Duke of Preston happens along Tabitha's path....

I Tried
Revisado: 07-09-23
The reader was too sing-song for my nerves!
Tried to be patient, but the story wasn’t compelling enough to overcome the irritation.
Very predictable.

Historia
Yorkshire, 1845. A young wife and mother has gone missing from her home, leaving behind two small children and a large pool of blood. Just a few miles away, a humble parson’s daughters - the Brontë sisters - learn of the crime. Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë are horrified and intrigued by the mysterious disappearance. These three creative, energetic, and resourceful women quickly realize that they have all the skills required to make for excellent “lady detectors.” Not yet published novelists, they have well-honed imaginations and are expert readers.

Couldn’t Finish
Revisado: 09-11-22
I don’t even know how the story unfolds because the reading of it is so breathy I couldn’t listen past the first chapter!
I enjoy Elizabeth Knowelden very much in other stories ( T E Kinsey’s), but this was nerve- wracking !

Historia
In 1915, Sherlock Holmes is retired and quietly engaged in the study of honeybees in Sussex when a young woman literally stumbles onto him on the Sussex Downs. Fifteen years old, gawky, egotistical, and recently orphaned, the young Mary Russell displays an intellect to impress even Sherlock Holmes. Under his reluctant tutelage, this very modern, twentieth-century woman proves a deft protégée and a fitting partner for the Victorian detective.

Didn’t Finish
Revisado: 09-14-20
I’m not sure if it was the story or the monotonous narrator, but each time I tried to listen, I could only hack it for 10 - 15 minutes.
Finally decided it wasn’t worth the time.
I have no previous experience with either the author or the narrator, so I don’t know if this was just a fluke.
