Historia
Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city - a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent - but he's one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music.

I enjoy this authors stories. This is my fifth of hers and I plan on continuing the rest of her books. This narrator was hard to listen to.

Another cool magical world from Sarah Painter
Revisado: 10-19-23
After reading the Crow series I was excited for something new from Sarah, and I like that there was some mentions of characters we heard about in the Crow series. I definitely like the mystery of the island, Esme and Luke however, this book is not as engaging as a previous series. I am hoping for the next books will be more engaging.

Love the stories, narrator is just ok
Revisado: 10-03-23
So read the book multiple times I’ve seen the movie and this time I decided to listen to the series. Some narrators just draw you in their voices for male and female characters or international characters are just so alluring. This narrator is just so ok. I know it doesn’t matter to most people, but I hated the fact that it was hard to discern who whose line she was reading in the book was it Charley? was it Edward? was it Alice? was it Bella? Most of the time characters all have the same voice. Anyway that’s all.

Historia
Bringing the magic and suspense of the All Souls Trilogy to a deeply satisfying conclusion, this highly anticipated finale went straight to number one on the New York Times best seller list. In The Book of Life, Diana and Matthew time-travel back from Elizabethan London to make a dramatic return to the present - facing new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home, Sept-Tours, they reunite with the beloved cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception.

Wonderful but narration not consistent
Revisado: 03-29-23
I love this book and series. The story is wonderful it has you thinking and engaging. The narrator for the first three books was the same yet used different accents and speech pace for the same people in different books. This made me bananas in this third book. I was used to it by the end, but since I’ve been listening back to back, this was really bothersome.

Between a still slow and poor storyline in the horrible narration, I can’t even continue to listen. Dakota may be a big name, but she’s not a great narrator.

Great story explaining the rise of Snow
Revisado: 10-07-22
So happy to have this story. It helps explain a lot about President Snow. The reader was ok. 1) this clearly was edited afterwards with several cut ins that are in a different tone or even reader 2) the songs were read and not sung. These things really bothered me.

Love the book, disappointed in the change of narrator
Revisado: 10-01-22
The 1st 5 books having the same narrator, the six books that almost 100 years later, had a new narrator which was hard to get used to it first, but in the seventh books, switching back to the original narrator, we disrupted the series. The books are excellent, listening to the last two was hard because of the narration change.

The year is 1883, and in New York City it's a time of dizzying splendor, crushing poverty, and tremendous change. With the gravity-defying Brooklyn Bridge nearly complete and New York in the grips of antivice crusader Anthony Comstock, Anna Savard and her cousin, Sophie - both graduates of the Woman's Medical School - treat the city's most vulnerable, even if doing so may put everything they've strived for in jeopardy.
