Holmes, Doyle, and Cummings are the top of the mark

Alan Cummings narration of this classic Sherlock Holmes case is outstanding. Many of us have read the Original Sherlock Holmes cases by Arthur Conan Doyle. This short but quick moving case is Doyle at his best. But this performance makes it new. Cummings makes it come alive before your eyes. Cumming’s accents are perfect. Unlike many narrators, he uses vocal inflection, varied volume and as appropriate, believable emotion to perform the tale. Well done sir.

Encrusted with jewels, it is worth a fortune.

Dufris performance of Hammett classic remarkable

Dufris is a gifted voice actor and does not disappoint. Told largely third person omniscient from Detective Sam Spade’ s view, Hammett’s story continues to entertain. What was the true nature of Spades’s relationship with O’Shaunesy? Obviously-the book provides more detail in some areas than the movie. This is a fun and welcome telling if you wish to read the original story. Highly recommended.
