Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Historia
At the end of 2008, Ford Motor Company was just months away from running out of cash. With the auto industry careening toward ruin, Congress offered all three Detroit automakers a bailout. General Motors and Chrysler grabbed the taxpayer lifeline, but Ford decided to save itself. Under the leadership of charismatic CEO Alan Mulally, Ford had already put together a bold plan to unify its divided global operations, transform its lackluster product lineup, and overcome a dysfunctional culture of infighting, backstabbing, and excuses.

Systems vs Personality
Revisado: 04-21-24
This is an interesting book on how to get system wide change to occur. Seeing how Ford and Boeing operate today, does go to show that getting away from proven systems can create issues.

Interesting world
Revisado: 04-21-24
Was as fun and entertaining as the first one. A different experience however. With the first book, I had listened to it after the movie. Then dove into Ready Player two before I saw any movie. So with the first one I knew the premise and saw different ways the book told the story. Hearing this second book has me intrigued on how they will handle the movie.
I am curious how they will handle the Simon Pegg Easter egg with the movie.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Libertarian
Revisado: 03-12-22
This was an interesting listen. Around the time of his 2008 election campaign, I was a strong supporter of Ron Paul. Listened to a lot of Fox news and talk radio. Whenever I would hear Obama speak, I was so turned off by it. Because I was wrapped up in what I had perceived as his stance.
I say this, having years pass by, that my views have been tempered. It may be, as a business owner, that I searched for greater meaning. A purpose beyond my pursuit of money. Which led to me learning about putting people first. Which led me through many, many books. To a point of view that upon reflecting on his presidency. Has me looking at him more with an admiration. A person who was genuine and cared deeply about America. Who tried to do right by it, within the system of government we have. Who was as much a human as any one of us. Just trying to take care of his family and do right in the world.
This book was a great story to listen to. I enjoyed listening to Barack as he spoke with the genuine language of not holding back certain words. Recounting his ambitions, his challenges of parenthood, and being a leader for our country.
One final note. I remember the day I chose between Ron Paul and Obama. At a book store sat both their books. I carried both around the store for a little bit, before settling on Paul's manifesto. While I don't think I made the wrong choice. I do wish I had taken the time to get another point of view during that time.

I never read the E myth. As an avid reader, it is surprising that over the many years of seeing the E myth book in stores, I never picked it up. as a business owner, reading this now was part guide book and part vindication that I have been mostly on the right path. Even without formal training.

Historia
An AI overseer and a human crew arrive on a distant planet to salvage an ancient UN starship. The overseer is unhappy. The crew, well, they're certainly no A-team. Not even a C-team on the best of days. And worse? Urmahon Beta, the planet, is at the ass-end of nowhere. Everybody expects this to be a long, ugly, and thankless job. Then it all goes disastrously wrong. What they thought was an uninhabited backwater turns out to be anything but empty.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

You need to listen to this book.
Reading won't do justice to fully envelope you into the story of his life.
Although a written copy would be useful to return to for some of those bumper stickers, musings, and questions he rattles off.

Today, our bodies define us. We color our hair; tattoo our skin; pierce our ears, brows, noses. We lift weights, run miles, break records. We are flesh and blood and bone. Tomorrow has different rules. The future is no longer about who we are - it's about who we want to be. If you can dream it, you can be it. Science will make us smarter, healthier, flawless in every way. Our future is boundless. This is a story that begins tomorrow. It's a story about us. It's a story about who comes after us. And it's a story about perfection. Because perfection has a way of getting ugly.

Historia
Nearly 40 million people in the United States live below the poverty line - about $26,200 for a family of four. Low-income families and individuals are everywhere, from cities to rural communities. While poverty is commonly seen as a personal failure, or a deficiency of character or knowledge, it's actually the result of bad policy. Public policy has purposefully erected barriers that deny access to basic needs, creating a society where people can easily become trapped - not because we lack the resources to lift them out, but because we are actively choosing not to.

Interesting, but...
Revisado: 02-18-21
I have only finished half of the book. It started as myself wanting to understand better the "Fight for 15". As a business owner who does employ people below that mark. As well as someone who came out of college making less than that. I felt I had a certain upbringing that enabled me to be empathetic.
What this book does for me so far is give me a little bit of understanding. I felt this book was really meant for people who have had no to very little interaction with people who are poorer. As most of the stories are presented in a way that the reader/listener is ignorant to the material.
The action steps... were forgettable for the most part. I didn't feel a call to action as the stories were not that impactful to me.
I would say that this book is best consumed by chapter with breaks in between. Give time to digest the material. A complementary book to go with this is "Good Economics in Hard Times". As that explores deeper the issues presented in this book.
Overall, the book is fine. It might be a better fit for someone else. But I will still refer to the book from time to time. It just won't be a primary read that is a "must finish".
