Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Favorite Stephen King In A while
Revisado: 04-19-24
I liked so much about this book that I'm going to go the opposite route and start by by mentioning the only thing that I didn't feel was top tier, the ending. Compared to the rest of the book, it feels like a King reread. That said, it's still a good ending to an absolutely fantastic book. I hope we get more stories in this world, because every character is written with so much potential to explore that you can't help eating up every detail given.
It's a brand new world that still feels familiar. There are a lot of parallels to other stories that are intentionally obvious. It's that feeling of connecting dots you get from something like a Dan Brown book, but written with Kings beautifully detailed descriptions.
This felt fresh (until the very end) from King. I love almost anything he puts out, but some can feel a little too similar. Even though this story borrows from fairy tales, it never stops feeling fresh.
This was the first book in a while, for me, that made me find excuses to go do chores or workout, just do I could pop my ear bud in and escape back into the story.
I highly recommend this book and it's made me excited for future King stories again.

The apocalypse will be televised! You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That’s what. Join Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game–like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon.

Revisado: 12-09-23
I'm not sure what I expected, but it wasn't this. I tried a couple other gamelit games and they just didn't grab me. It was either too dry, or full of humor that didn't land. The one exception that comes to mind is the awesome Critical Roll series. This book, though, has been a blast! It's written incredibly well, the humor frequently lands and the narration is top notch.
You aren't going to get any smarter listening to this, but you're probably going up smile a lot.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Historia
This is a collection of the eighth six short stories in the Caverns & Creatures series. It includes the following titles: This Poo Shall Pass, Hung Ogre, Fortune Favors the Kobold, Asses to Asses, Love on the Rocs, and The Winds of Cooper. If you've already purchased all of these books, there is nothing new for you here. If you haven't yet purchased any, you can save a few bucks by buying this collection. If you've only purchased some of these already, you'll have to do some math.

On screen, Danny Trejo the actor is a baddie who has been killed at least a hundred times. He’s been shot, stabbed, hanged, chopped up, squished by an elevator, and once, was even melted into a bloody goo. Off screen, he’s a hero beloved by recovery communities and obsessed fans alike. But the real Danny Trejo is much more complicated than the legend.

PLEASE ignore the negative reviews on the narration!

Please please please do not miss out on this book based on Danny's performance. Just increase the speed on playback to 1.2x and enjoy a book that may change your perspective on not just Trejo, but on life in general. This is one of those rare occasions where someone's story has impacted me in a way that will stay with me for a long time. Thank you to everyone that made this book happen and God bless Danny Trejo.

Fine content, not worth a whole credit
Revisado: 12-17-20
This feels a lot more like a section pulled from an actual book. The content was fine, but I feel ripped off that the "cost" was on par with other, more complete, books. It's a nice story, but it's incredibly short and is the same thing you've read/heard in every other book like this.

I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

Historia
While he's not quite a household name, most people would consider H. Jon Benjamin, the voice-actor star of Archer and Bob's Burgers (and a sentient can of mixed vegetables in 2015's Wet Hot American Summer) a comedy show business success. But he'd like to remind everyone that as great as success can be, failure is also an option. In a hilarious, self-deprecating memoir, Jon lays out some of his many failures in all areas of life, from Work ("wherein I'm unable to deliver a sizzling fajita") to Family ("wherein a trip to PF Chang's fractures a family").

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.
