Historia
I have done my best to name the thoughts, feelings, and opportunities that accompany the journey through failure, because in naming a thing we gain power over it. What I ultimately hope for are empowered men and women who confidently embrace their stories to live more effectively and wholeheartedly in the world. Fail fast, fail often, fail forward...We live in an age that acknowledges the importance of failure to success. Yet our relentless focus on success can leave us ill-prepared for the trauma, grief, and confusion that can accompany failure.

Failure is always built upon successes
Revisado: 02-12-22
Mark's story is an unguarded and brutally honest self-reflection of aspirations unfulfilled. A man's standards can be measured by how high tries to reach. When he assesses his own achievements as small, he views the world with clear vision and practical judgement. It is refreshing to read how an ambitious achiever skips over the less common accolades, lamenting his missing the moon amidst a culture that fixates on superficiality in nearly every facet of artificial engagement. The conversational confession that is "Eating Glass" reflects the counter-cultural maturity of a humble and exceptionally talented leader and innovator. Bravo brother, for sharing the pragmatic and vulnerable reality that comes with daring greatly, particularly amidst a culture that fixates on superficiality to spin sensationalized alternate personas.

what a knucklehead
Revisado: 09-24-21
He served in office during the 9/11 terrorist attacks - but said not word one about it or our subsequent actions directly following. Then he refers to the Antifa & BLM-led riot at the US Capitol as an "insurrection" and blames Trump, yet ignores the Fascist's burning and looting across the US in 2020. Not impressed.

Wonderful read

More of an appendix to Surely You Must Be Joking with a fantastic deep dive on the shuttle Challenger accident. Traggic to read how broken Govt agencies are across any functional area, but heartbreaking for one rooted in science and engineering alone.

Top in its class
Revisado: 04-04-21
This book is near the top in its genre. One's career is the least of which this book treats. I have never heard of this author before, but he clearly writes in the rare class of "classic". An absolute "must read" guidebook on life.

Comedic Gold!
Revisado: 02-26-21
Never mind that silly singing and little skiffle band -- this lad has true comedic talent. Watch him, he's going places! One of the funniest books I've read -- laugh out loud stuff throughout. Audio production could use some spruce up (e.g. a little more space between chapters to make the transition more obvious).

Historia
On the 78th floor of the World Trade Center’s north tower, no alarms sounded, and no one knew what had just happened at 8:46 a.m. that morning, September 11, 2001. Blind since birth, Michael couldn’t see a thing, but he could hear the sounds of shattering glass, falling debris, and terrified people flooding around him and his guide dog, Roselle. However, Roselle sat calmly beside him. In that moment, Michael chose to trust Roselle’s judgment and not to panic. They were a team....

Historia
A gripping, fact-based story of how Daniel Morgan and his courageous riflemen played a crucial role in George Washington's victory in the American Revolution.... They wore hunting shirts, deer-skin leggins and moccasins. Each had a tomahawk and a scalping knife in their belts and carried "long rifles" in their hands. Every rifleman was a Patriot volunteer, a tracker, and a hunter. And they could kill a redcoat from 250 yards.

Historia
In The Black Swan Taleb outlined a problem, and in Antifragile he offers a definitive solution: how to gain from disorder and chaos while being protected from fragilities and adverse events. For what Taleb calls the "antifragile" is actually beyond the robust, because it benefits from shocks, uncertainty, and stressors, just as human bones get stronger when subjected to stress and tension. The antifragile needs disorder in order to survive and flourish. Taleb stands uncertainty on its head, making it desirable, even necessary, and proposes that things be built in an antifragile manner.
