Historia
Psychologist Serena Sheridan has come back to the small Louisiana town where she’d been raised—and where her grandfather has suddenly gone missing. Successful, ambitious, beautiful, Serena always found the darker world of the bayous far less predictable—and far more treacherous—than the life she’d chosen.

Fast Easy Read
Revisado: 01-04-25
I found this book quite enjoyable. In the last couple months I had been reading a lot of books regarding our recent political issues so I was ready to read something a little more fun, but still had some good twists and turns and this book fit perfectly. If you’re not someone who likes the play on accents then you probably won’t enjoy the reader’s Louisiana speak, but I found it fun. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a little mystery, a touch of Louisiana flavor, but without a lot of blood and gore.

I haven’t read a book by this author in awhile, but I saw this one and thought it sounded good. I wasn’t wrong. I was really happy I got it. The characters were relatable and the storyline kept me chasing the bad guy right along with everyone else. I definitely recommend this book.

When Charlie Blair left Chicago behind—and her old life as Lauren Claybourne—for a gig in the Santa Cruz DA's office, things were supposed to be easier. Or at least nothing that a couple of Xanax and a tumbler of vodka couldn't handle. The plan had been working, until the murder of a local bail bondsman Shelly Hansen. Enter: hotshot prosecutor Erika Lorman, she of the stellar record and unfailing touch with juries, a veritable legend in her own right.

Not her usual stuff
Revisado: 06-11-23
I’ve read all of Marcia Clarks books but this one wasn’t her usual stuff. First off you have two top notch attorneys falling apart while trying to put together a major court case. Charlie should be in rehab and Erica needs to go to a psych hospital. The story actually was pretty entertaining and I continue to be a fan, but if Ms Clark ever reads reviews please go back to your original characters, especially Rachel Knight and her crew. Those were good books! Tell us if Rachel ever finds her sister, does she get married? Bring back the sexy bartender and Louise, probably my favorite character in any book ever. Unlike the Rachel Knight series the characters in Fall Girl were not as likable and the story just had too many sideline things going on that were separate from the main story. Please bring back Rachel Knight.

Historia
A pretty, popular teenager never returned from her secret tryst in Skeleton Canyon. Perhaps it was a youthful rage or savage passion that ripped the life from a child of privilege and abandoned her broken body to the cold Arizona night. Or maybe she stumbled onto something terrible, something too dangerous to know. Now dark secrets about a future hideously destroyed are pulling Sheriff Joanna Brady of Cochise County into a lethal nest of lies and greed.

Good Story
Revisado: 04-16-23
I'm enjoying this series a lot. The characters are relatable and the story holds your interest. There are both mystery and suspense to keep the pages turning. The narrator isn't the best in my opinion, though I've definitely heard worse. She just tends to read quite slow so that sometimes there are some pretty big lags in the story. I would definitely recommend this book to others though. if I were reading it rather than listening to it I probably would of given it five stars.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 02-04-23
I usually read books from authors like Lisa Jackson, Allison Brennan, Karen Slaughter, James Patterson so this was my first in the genre of cozy detective. I really enjoyed it. I usually listen to my books on Audible before I go to sleep at night so I was looking for. something that had a good mystery but was lighter, had a little humor or quirkier characters and I found that here. The narration was good and made the characters come to life. As I move on to the next book in this series, I will definitely recommend this book to other readers.

Good read
Revisado: 01-28-23
I enjoyed this book. I thought the characters were relatable. I put this in what I refer to as a light read category which means the violence, sex and cussing were kept to a reasonable amount. It was a book I could read before bed and not want to leave a night light on. It definitely falls into the category of a romantic police story so some of my male friends might not want to read it because of the romance and the police scenes aren't overly detailed or graphic, but I would definitely recommend it to my female friends. All in all I thought it was a good read and gave it four stars.

Not the Best
Revisado: 09-25-22
I have read all the books in this series up to this point. When I finish this review I will start book 15. This has been my least favorite of all the books in this series. I felt at times the story was chopped up and sometimes hard to follow. The characters did not share their usual connection and the team did not seem to be as much of a team. Given all that it was still an okay read. In case it isn't evident, I listened to this book instead of reading it and I do believe that some books are just better if read and I think this may just be one such book.

Historia
Tory Bodeen grew up in a run-down house where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt - and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. Her one escape was her neighbor Hope, who lived in the big house just a short skip away, and whose friendship allowed Tory to be something she wasn’t allowed to be at home: a child. Then Hope was brutally murdered, and everything fell apart.

Loved It
Revisado: 08-15-21
I have always said that a book can take you anywhere and Nora Roberts is a pro at guiding that journey. When you read one of her books you feel like you're right there walking those streets, driving those roads and becoming friends or enemies with each character. Since I now must listen to my books rather than read them I have come to realize the importance of the narrator and I feel the narration in this book was very good, but now lets get to the story. Wow!!! If you're a fan of Nora Roberts you know the things I previously mentioned, the characters and locations are very important to each of her stories. She writes a lot about relationships. She's a romance writer and Tory and Cade as well as Cades sister Faith and his friend Wade each have their own demons to battle before they can find true love. At the heart of those demons is a murder of Cade and Faiths sister, Hope, who was also Tory's best friend. The story takes you on a journey to find Hopes killer so these relationships can see if its love or the need to find Hopes killer that brings these four together. However, there is a twist at the end that is really something you don't see coming. I loved this book and definitely recommend it.

Another winner
Revisado: 07-22-21
Nora Roberts has been one of my favorite authors for years and this book is an excellent example why. Lately I have read so many books that add page after page of what I call fluff. Sometimes its almost to where you lose sight of what the book is about, but MS Roberts never does that. She gives such vivid descriptions without all the fluff. I love a book that can easily transport you to that time and place and this book does that. I also liked that though there was the hint of mystery throughout the story this one was more about finding love and how complex family ties can be. I also have to mention the added bonus to this book is the narration by January Levoy. She is truly one of the best. All in all, I enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it to others.

No Way
Revisado: 07-01-21
I find it very hard to believe Lee Child wrote this book. Like many who have written a review here, I am a major Lee Child (Jack Reacher) fan and this one was just trash. If you are a first time reader of this author please do not judge him based on this book. You kind of needed to read chapters 1 and 2 for foundation and then you could skip to chapter 50 where you begin to think maybe the story will start to pickup but by chapter 60 you just have to conclude that there is just nothing there. I don’t want to see this series end I love Jack Reacher so I hope this was just one bad apple and as he does in his stories, he will come back bigger and better next time. Also, Dick Hill, please don’t ever do the broken nose again. You made Reacher sound like an 85 year old drunk.
Lastly, if I may, I don’t know who chose Tom Cruise to play Reacher but it’s almost insulting to his fans. Don’t get me wrong Tom Cruise is a fine actor and he could play a great Stone Barrington (Stuart Woods) or even Spenser (Robert B Parker) but Reacher is 6’4” and 250 lbs. He’s scruffy but good looking so to have someone 5’7” and maybe 165 and who just stepped out of GQ magazine is NOT Reacher. Maybe try Liam Nieson or Tom Selleck. In any event, please Mr. Child bring back the Reacher we know and love.
