Historia
Don't call this mermaid "little"—call her "captain," unless you want to walk the plank. Mary is in love with the so-called prince of Charles Town, except he doesn't love her back. Which is inconvenient. Since she's a mermaid, being brokenhearted means she'll—poof!—turn into sea-foam. But instead, Mary finds herself pulled out of the sea and up onto a pirate ship. To survive, she joins them.

Every book I’ve read/listened to written by these authors has been good. This one didn’t disappoint and the narrator was perfect!

Disappointed
Revisado: 09-18-24
I may still try to read this book instead of listening to the audiobook because I really want to like it. The narrator just really doesn’t do it for me. I get second hand embarrassment listening to her narrate the sexy time scenes and it just ruins it for me. A narrator can make or break an audiobook and this one is broken for me. The cover art is so enthralling and what I did listen to peaked my interest so maybe I’ll just get the book. But DNF at about 25% of the way in 😞

I wasn’t the sort of girl who believed in fairy tales, let alone tales about Faeries. But that changed the day Faeries came to my small town and Hunters rose from their graves. On that fateful day, I received a book, a peculiar collection of myths and legends. Turns out, it was so much more than stories. And just as I was on the verge of unlocking its secrets, it was stolen from me by someone I called a friend.

Meh…
Revisado: 02-03-24
I really liked the first book of this series and because of that maybe I had high expectations for this second book, which it did not meet. The main character is truly annoying. I’m a fan of strong female characters but Cat is not that. Not always. Sometimes she is. Mostly she’s just whiny and selfishly annoying. The author really relied a lot on useless details and went overboard on the adjectives. I’m hoping the next book is better because there is a lot of potential here. Also, while this narrator is far from the worst, she exacerbated Cat’s whiney attitude and irritated me throughout the book. Glad it’s over, that was almost painful.

The series was great - each book was really fun to listen to and this narrator is my favorite by far. I like how this story was brought to an “end” (but not really?) and look forward to Ms Garber’s next release.

Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

So this one was different
Revisado: 10-17-22
I love Sarah J Maas as an author - the Throne of Glass series is one of my all time favorites. I liked the first few books in this series as well. But this one….this one hits differently and not in a good way. I appreciate hearing more about Nesta and Cassian, but honestly the freaking sex every chapter is ridiculous. Then the thoughts each other has about the sexy time. Just goes beyond necessary. I can appreciate a story that can incorporate an erotic scene that enhances the book. This book though just delivers too many scenes that add nothing to the overall story and honestly gets irritating. Spent more time skipping to the next chapter than I did listening.

Great book!
Revisado: 02-04-21
I'm not always great with words and speaking/writing them so they are comprehensive but I will say that i really enjoyed this book. A trigger warning should be somewhere on the cover or whatever. Yes, there are vulgar scenes depicted in the story, but those truly do set the stage for the vileness of the character performing those acts.

Historia
When band-geek Ivy and her friends get together, things start with a rousing board game and end with arguments about Star Wars. Her older sister Autumn is a different story. Enigmatic, aloof, and tough as nails, Autumn hasn't had real friends - or trusted anyone - in years. Even Ivy. But Autumn might not be tough enough. After a drug deal gone wrong, Autumn is beaten, bound, and held hostage. Now, trapped between life and death, she leaves her body, seeking help. No one can sense her presence - except her sister. When Autumn doesn't come home, Ivy just knows she's in trouble.

Loved this book. I will gladly recommend this book to anyone looking for something different, with topics brought to light that are too often kept in the shadows. The book is well written and the narrators are perfect for their respective parts. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I just returned from the mall after school shopping with my soon-to-be sophomore and her friend. I now understand why fathers opt to go camping, roll around in elk urine, and shit in a hole rather than go to the mall three days before school starts. As if the crowds weren’t bad enough, my girl decided to wear a flannel that hung lower than her shorts, making it appear that she was walking around naked from the waist down. She was flocked by sales people, who, I am sure, were calculating their commissions in their heads. I mean, why not?

i found this book at the perfect time, having to deal with a 14 year old daughter, and 14 year old stepdaughter who are both assholes much of the time. I swear, the past couple of years have been... really great and it's so nice to see other people who feel the same way that i do about this whole parenting teenagers stint. now I'm looking for a book about asshole children during a pandemic/quarantine! this has been a year full of fun, new adventures in parenting! listening to this book felt like sitting down with a friend, which is perfect since i forgot what that feels like!

I am all for fictional books taking me away from reality, but this book took some things too far. No guy is perfect (except Johnny Gamble, apparently) and it gets annoying when the characters in books don't really have many human traits. IDK, maybe it's just me but I rolled my eyes A LOT while listening to this book.
Also, the male narrator has a great voice... for reading action books, maybe. But not for this kind of soft porn 😜

First celebrated for her voice, she became one of the most talked-about women in the world, whether for music and fashion, her relationship struggles, or as a walking blonde joke. But now, instead of being talked about, Jessica is doing the talking. Her audiobook shares the wisdom and inspirations she’s learned and shows the real woman behind all the pop-culture clichés. Open Book is an opportunity to laugh and cry with a close friend, one that will inspire you to live your best, most authentic life, now that she is finally living hers.

Love it. One of the best I've "read"
Revisado: 02-08-20
I've been a Jessica fan for her career. Being the same age as her, and going through many of the same things (on a much less public scale) at the same time, without knowing it, it was nice to have this look into her life. (No matter who it is, it's nice to not feel so alone in certain things.) I'm rooting for her, and hope the future brings many more blessings for her and her family. I know many reviewers complain about her narration, but if the author of a book about themselves doesn't narrate, it's just weird. Worth a listen, for sure. Plus, the songs are really good at the end. 😊
