This brave, candid story is unravelled remarkably. Enlightening, informative, gripping portrait of the power of cult persuasion. As years pass and the public's memory of the Manson family fade, hearing Dianne Lake's retelling of her years with Charles Manson punctuates the importance of family and ultimately, faith in God's grace. This book answered so many questions that were unreal to most of us...how could anyone end up being so dedicated to a mad man? Why didn't these girls just leave? How does anyone get to the point where insanity makes sense? What we read or heard in the media is nothing compared to the events that the author unpacks in this amazing first-person memoir. I have so much respect for Dianne Lake. It took such courage to relive not only the 2 years she spent with Charles Manson, but her difficult childhood prior to that and the many years of healing after that. If you ever underestimated the impact that parenting and family has, this book is a clarion call to parents. I highly recommend this book.

One of the best Christmas book I've ever read!!

I listened to this last year and again this year. I thoroughly enjoyed this great book both times. I'd listen to and recommend just about anything by Alistair Begg and this Christmas book is at the top of my list. It's also one of the best explanations of who Christ is, why He came to earth, and why we need Him.
