Excellent Story
Revisado: 02-03-24
The story is fantastic, every book has been exciting and enthralling. The absolute worst part is the narrator. Kevin Pierce is a terrible choice for this story. He sound old, frail, has the absolute worstb"Irish" accent you've ever heard and is an astonishing choice for a series about a tough as nails Irish mercenary in the apocalypse. He sounds more like Wilfred Brimley than a man who still travels the world wreaking havoc on enemies. I still recommend, it's an excellent series.

People ask me how come I'm still alive, and I don't know what to say. When I was growing up, if you'd have put me up against a wall with the other kids from my street and asked me which one of us was gonna make it to the age of 60, with five kids and four grandkids and houses in Buckinghamshire and California, I wouldn't have put money on me, no f--king way. But here I am: ready to tell my story, in my own words, for the first time. A lot of it ain't gonna be pretty. I've done some bad things in my time. But I ain't the devil.

Excellent audiobook!
Revisado: 01-18-24
I've listened to it twice since purchasing it and will probably listen again one day. Excellent story telling, excellent narration and always interesting.
This book follows Ozzy's life from growing up in Aston to being the Ozzy everyone knew from MTV's The Osbourne's. It focuses on mostly Sabbath and his solo work in the 80's but touches on everything.
He's truly a living legend. Sabbath and Ozzy's solo work are what created heavy metal as we know and love it. Heavy with great melodies that you can sing or hum along with. Anyone that hasn't sung along to his music or played air guitar to half his songs is probably lying!
He's deeply flawed, sometimes a truly horrible person and this is a worts and all look at the man, the myth, the legend, Ozzy.

Great book, worth the listen
Revisado: 01-18-24
Loved that was available in Audible Prime. Carol Ann has an interesting story to tell. It isn't mudslinging, tawdry or salacious. just a behind the scenes glimpse into the heights of the Mac, specifically Lindsey Buckingham.
I like The Mac, not a super fan but enjoy their music, knew about the addictions, infidelity and fighting but this sheds a light on a lot of it from an outsiders perspective while mainly focusing on her personal relationships with mainly Buckingham but the other members of "the family", and industry people along the way.
She experienced highs and lows with the band, touches on their solo efforts and the timeline is basically 1976-1985. Wasn't boring and didn't drone on about insignificant details, has a nice pace and always kept me interested.

Prior to his tragic death in 2010, Ronnie James Dio had been writing his autobiography, looking back on the remarkable life that led him from his hometown in upstate New York to the biggest stages in the world, including the arena that represented the pinnacle of success to him - Madison Square Garden, where this book begins and ends.

No one loves Dionmore than Dio
Revisado: 01-18-24
It's an average book that only focuses on a few years of his life. I've never been a big Dio fan and this book has certainly made me like him even less. Not because he's a crazy, abusive megalomaniac like so many come acrossnin their rockstar autobiographies but because Dio is so full of himself.
Dio thinks he's the greatest musician, not just singer to have every graced the stage, the Godfather of heavy metal and the sole inspiration for 80's metal, he's not. I almost fell out of my truck laughing when he was saying how great of a singer he was andnhow Ozzy wasn't a good singer and how everyone in theb80's was copying him even though some of the bands he even mentions were heavier and better than Dio before Dio even existed!
Of course he thinks Rainbow was far mire influential and bigger than they were, he gives half respect to Blackmore and throws shade at Black Sabbath while saying anything they did was better than the original line up.
Again, I've never liked the guy beyond a few radio songs i didn't skip decades ago but I thought it would still be a fun insight into the era, I hoped t learn more about him, and I did but his personality won't win any awards for modesty.
If you're a fan or like the era, it's worth listening to for free, I wouldn't use a credit on it. I found it in Audible Prime and I'm grateful that they had it. I won't be listening to it again anytime soon. If anything it made me more curious about Blackmore and what he was doing when he was out of the spotlight.

Worst EMP series to date
Revisado: 08-30-23
The first and last book of this series are the 2 worst books in the entire genre. Pinchot performs well, better than he usually dies which is a shame because the source material is so poor.
Sansbury Smith isn't a very talented author which could be excused if he was at least entertaining but you will spend far more time waiting for parts and books to end rather than enjoying what's happening
The characters are awful and the storyline is atrocious. "Hey Big Sis, sure is cool that we're both awesome fighter jet pilots! If only you didn't hold all those records and fighter jet school I would have a chance and on top of that you're Secretary of Defense and might even be president one day!" That's basically what you get and almost verbatim an exchange between 2 main characters, it's awful. She's not only an air force pilot, apparently she's been moonlighting flying the army's Blackhawks. Yup, it's that awful.
As painful as that is, the native American folklore so painfully shoehorned into the books is laughably bad. I'm amazed that this drivel gets published, I truly am. If you've listened to every other book on earth and just want to listen to one more, I would skip this and relisten to literally anything else.

Weakest Link
Revisado: 08-24-23
Probably Bronson Pinchot's worst performance. His cadence is awful and stretching out John over three syllables every single time Lawrence is in a scene where John is every third word made me want to stop listening.
The story itself if awful, it should've never neen written. It's either a cash grab or contract fulfillment. It's the most ridiculous storyline with zero character development. Forced and rushed is about the kindest summary I can provide.
You've listened to the other 3 books, you'll listen to this one too and you'll be disappointed. I wish Forstchen had beta listeners or a better editor because this should've never seen the light of day, at best it's a rough draft.

Historia
Meet Michael Blutrich, mild-mannered New York lawyer and founder of Scores, the hottest strip club in New York City history, funded by the proceeds of an insurance embezzlement scheme. All Blutrich wanted was to lay low, make the club a success, and put his criminal acts behind him. But the Mafia got involved, and soon the FBI came knocking. Scores became wildly popular, in part thanks to Blutrich's ability to successfully bend the rules of adult entertainment. Unfortunately for Blutrich, it would all soon implode.

Excellent Audiobook
Revisado: 04-20-23
This would've been a fantastic read but it's an even better audiobook. It's narrated by the author, it's Michael's story in Michael's words. I didn't want to put it down. This tale of success, corruption, extortion, the NY mob and the failed judicial system would be an amazing miniseries on Amazon or Paramount. I hope to see it come to fruition and now I need to find out more about Michael and see if there's more to his story.

Historia
In 1973, Norma Cobb, her husband Lester, and their five children pulled up stakes in the lower 48 and headed north to Alaska to follow a pioneer dream of claiming land under the Homestead Act. The only land available lay north of Fairbanks near the Arctic Circle where grizzlies outnumbered humans 20 to one. In addition to fierce winters and predatory animals, the Alaskan frontier drew the more unsavory elements of society's fringes. From the beginning, the Cobbs found themselves pitted in a life or death feud with unscrupulous neighbors who would rob from new settlers.

Narrator ruins it
Revisado: 02-21-23
The narrator makes this audiobook unlistenable. Imagine someone impersonating a female carnie from 1928, "hey, fellas and dames, step right on up, ya hear, we're gonna have a grand ol' time, ya hear" and if you can listen to 8 hours of that, congrats, you've made it much farther than I have. Not only is her.voice harsh and shrill, her cadence is appalling. I think most people off the street would do a better job.

Terrible author, awful book
Revisado: 02-14-23
Skip the entire series. Most everything designed by committee is trash and this is no exception. Devon C. Ford sets up something that could be a good series and it loses all steam after that. This book goes from bad to worse.
She basically abandoned everything that made the first book interesting and incorporated her own absolutely awful characters focusing more on half cooked relationships, awful character development and I am not kidding, weight loss and dieting which could have been relevant except that she has no idea what she's doing. I'm amazed that she's a professional writer.
I'm shocked that any of this made it past an editor, especially all of the drivel about the awful Pierogi Parties. Hey Jacqueline, someone should have told you that the plural of pierogi is pierogi's and the plural of bungee is bungee's.
It's one of the worst stories I've ever heard and definitely one of the worst books ever written. Can't believe I actually bought it, should've been a freebie in the plus catalog at most.
