Historia
In retreat from a devastating loss and crushing injustice, Katie lives alone in a fortresslike stone house on Jacob’s Ladder island. Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Although an air of menace hangs over these men, an infinitely greater threat has arrived, one so strange even the island animals are in a state of high alarm.

STOP WHISPERING!!
Revisado: 03-07-23
I have to continuously turn up and down the volume so I can either hear what she’s saying or so I don’t wake the kids when something exciting starts to happen. Great inflection and tone, but I need more consistency in the volume:)

Historia
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.

Boring
Revisado: 09-22-17
I just thought this book was rather boring. Especially compared to Behind Closed Doors. I even thought about fast forwarding a few times. With about 2 hours left it picks up (if you can make it that far), but I also wasn't thrilled about the ending.

Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge....

Not bad
Revisado: 08-17-16
Would probably make a better movie. There's one part in the book where I was like "did I miss something"?
But overall, not bad.
I did cry at one point which is a gage of a good book to me. I love a good cry.
