Historia
Raised in a turbulent home, Brittany Williams learned to use food as a coping mechanism to manage her feelings at a young age. When she was 14, a family member’s comment “no man will want you with a pudgy figure like that” forever changed the way she viewed her body and opened a door, new and alluring, into the world of self-loathing, self-punishment, and dieting. Told with Brittany’s unflagging honesty and trademark vulnerability, Dear Body describes the tensions of growing up in a body that often felt more like a traitor than a friend.

Incredible

Brittany shares with honesty and vulnerability. Because of this, the reader can learn not just about the writer’s struggles and triumphs, but also their own can come to the surface knowing they are not alone.

Shauna has a way of storytelling that will take you through the darkness but not leave you there, always finding beauty.
Thanks, Shauna for being so vulnerable. It was such a touching and brave book.

All My Knotted-Up Life is a beautifully crafted portrait of resilience and survival, a poignant reminder of God’s enduring faithfulness, and proof positive that if we ever truly took the time to hear people’s full stories . . . we’d all walk around slack-jawed.

Historia
February 1862. The Civil War is less than one year old. The fighting has begun in earnest, and the nation has begun to realize it is in for a long, bloody struggle. Meanwhile, President Lincoln’s beloved eleven-year-old son, Willie, lies upstairs in the White House, gravely ill. In a matter of days, despite predictions of a recovery, Willie dies and is laid to rest in a Georgetown cemetery. “My poor boy, he was too good for this earth,” the president says at the time. “God has called him home.”

Very frustrating
Revisado: 08-19-18
Definitely not a book to listen to. The actors did a great job but this was very choppy and weird. So much interruption. I spent over two hours listening and never could figure out what was going on. Tons of very coarse language. Completely non-enjoyable. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the audible editors raved about this, but I will never trust them again. Thank goodness for the ability to return an audible book.
