Historia
The religious experience is an extraordinarily powerful force that can define and shape the communities it creates. Over the course of 24 lectures, Professor Jones takes a vibrant first look at the discipline known as religious studies and shows how other fields-sociology, psychology, anthropology, and phenomenology-have tried to explain the complex relationship between individuals, cultures, and faith.

Fabulously written and executed
Revisado: 07-10-21
For anyone confused this course isn’t about specific religions or even comparative religion. This course is an excellent overview of PHILOSOPHY AND ANTHROPOLOGY as it related to religions. Since there are practically an infinite amount of religions and no one truest understands why it is fascinating listening to a master of the subject discuss the history of how the learned understand WHY religion is practiced.

Historia
In December 1937, in the capital of China, one of the most brutal massacres in the long annals of wartime barbarity occurred. The Japanese army swept into the ancient city of Nanking and within weeks not only looted and burned the defenseless city but systematically raped, tortured and murdered more than 300,000 Chinese civilians. Amazingly, the story of this atrocity- one of the worst in world history- continues to be denied by the Japanese government.

Worth the emotional strain
Revisado: 06-24-21
This book is one of the hardest books I have ever listened to. I like horror and true crime but this by every means is worse then every gory evil and depressing thing I have consumed avidly. Chang give vivid accounts of all the gruesome and sordid details, impressing a well researched and needed source for historical knowledge of this cruel act. If you are willing to be witness to this important historical tragedy then I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Renowned poet and critic Clive James presents the crowning achievement of his career: a monumental translation into English verse of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is the precursor of modern literature, and this translation - decades in the making - gives us the entire epic as a single, coherent and compulsively listenable lyric poem. Written in the early 14th century and completed in 1321, the year of Dante’s death, The Divine Comedy is perhaps the greatest work of epic poetry ever composed.

Revisado: 12-23-18
This book is well performed and of course a classic story. I needed to read the book for class but had no time to do it. even on x2 speed, it was easy to follow and understand the story.

I thought I knew US history
Revisado: 12-23-18
Before I had listened to this book, I had taken a college course on US history. By all means, I learned a lot in that course, but I learned not nearly as much as these lectures contain. I knew of some of the stuff included in these tomes, but the lecturer goes into reasonings and logic that I had never thought of before. This series of lectures is worthy of a good listen from any history buff.

Great Listen
Revisado: 12-23-18
Law 101 is an informative book with a lot of examples and explanations. It is a book about law so it does have its downfall in that it can get a bit hard to follow at points. For what it is it an interesting and informative book that is great for anyone interested in learning about judicial law.
