the narrator slaps!
Revisado: 10-01-21
Maybe it’s dorky to say but I really appreciate a good narrator and this one worked hard to make this story come to life. Grateful for this author and this story. This is very much a whimsical feel good story that may dredge up some emotion. It’s been a while since a book has made me feel the way this & this authors newest work have. i loved every minute.

Historia
Finnmark, Norway, 1617. Twenty-year-old Maren Magnusdatter stands on the craggy coast, watching the sea break into a sudden and reckless storm. Forty fishermen, including her brother and father, are drowned and left broken on the rocks below. With the menfolk wiped out, the women of the tiny Arctic town of Vardø must fend for themselves. Three years later, a stranger arrives on their shore. Absalom Cornet comes from Scotland, where he burned witches in the northern isles. He brings with him his young Norwegian wife, Ursa.

Narrator does an incredible job
Revisado: 08-09-21
The narrator fully carried this book, the ending was haunting, heartbreaking and powerful. I wanted more, if there were a sequel I would certainly read/listen. It is hard to listen to at times due to violence, but as someone who enjoys works like this (somewhat in the vein of confessions of a pagan nun) I enjoyed the book and would recommend. Kudos to the narrator. What an incredible job. Narration on these audio books is everything.

Historia
Although clinical research has been conducted on narcissism as a disorder, less is known about its effects on victims who are in toxic relationships with partners with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Individuals with this disorder engage in chronic devaluation and manipulation of their partners, a psychological and emotional phenomenon known as "narcissistic abuse". Unfortunately, the full extent of what narcissistic abuse entails is not taught in any psychology class or diagnostic manual.
