I loved this book. While it is a sad story, there is humor in it, just like life. I loved Fatty and Big Soup. The narrator was excellent. His phrasing as he read brought the people to life. I laughed through the book.

On Guinea Nell and her husband Fen are studying indigenous people. They are now on their third group of people, the Tam, who welcome them and allow them to become part of the tribe. They were introduced by Andrew Bankston, another anthropologist who is studying another group there. Fen's mind is on a flute he saw with an earlier group he and Nell were studying. He leaves Nell to do most of the study. When he achieves what he wants, he puts all 3 in danger and they must leave. But can they? Will Fen leave without any artifacts?

I liked the story. I liked Nell and Bankston. I hated Fen. Fen was a user. Neii was a better anthropologist and his ego couldn't take it. He was mean, nasty, and abusive. When Bankston meets Nell he is smitten as she was with him. He is caring and gentle with her. He makes sure she is taken care of which she doesn't receive from Fen. Fen is jealous of Bankston but never changes his behavior. I hated the ending but I don't think there could have been any other ending. This was not a happy story.

I thought the narrators were good. They did all the voices. I could tell the difference between Bankston and Fen. I could also tell the difference between Nell and the natives. Very well done.

Ezra, a Palestinian woman who marries a man whose family moved to the United States as a boy, navigates this new land while trying to remain true to what she was taught as a child. Pressure is placed upon her to have a son but she keeps having daughters. Her husband beats her and she is told to keep it at home. Finally she comes to her breaking point and wants to save her daughters.

This is a hard story. I felt a lot of anger towards Fareeda, the mother,-in-law, and Ezra's mother as well as towards the culture because of the devaluing of women and the allowance of abuse. I felt even more anger towards Adam. the husband, for his abuse and his anger. I hated that Ezra felt it was her fault that this was happening to her. Told from three points of view-- Ezra, Fareeda, and Deaya, Ezra's oldest daughter--i saw different views of the same event. I liked that Deaya stood up for herself and would not let Fareeda marry her off. I also liked that Zara, Fareeda's only daughter, managed to escape the household where she was expected to carry on the same traditions,. it was interesting to watch how the immigrant story changed through the generations--from fear to courage and independence. I'm glad a read this book even though it made me angry and sad.

Loved the story. Liked Joe, Rosie, and Katie. Joe discovers he has Huntington's Disease. The family struggles with it but work together and strengthen one another as they come with Joe's illness as well as the hereditary issues of Huntington's. The narrator was wonderful. I felt like I was part of the story.

I wish I had heard this earlier. I liked that she not only spoke of the problems we face but she also gave solutions. I also liked that each chapter dealt with one theme. the stories focused on the theme of the chapter and emphasized what she was talking about. this should be required reading for anyone wanting to serve in government.

This is my favorite Christmas story. Beautifully done. I have to laugh as the story was read and intonation added to it. I could feel what the others were thinking. I love the Herdman's and how they put a human face to the Christmas story.

Jennifer and Ryan are wondering if their marriage is all it can be. Is that all there is? When they meet Paige and Bruce at a friend's Christmas party and discover the couple swing, they are intrigued and make contact with them and enter the lifestyle.

I enjoyed the story. I liked the sex scenes but I especially liked that the problems of living the swinging lifestyle were not neglected. it was good to see that poor communication between partners as well as others being played with can mess up what started out as fun and was good. Jealousy rears its head and Jennifer and Ryan need to work it out as well as problem behaviors that are keeping trust out of their relationship. I liked that Noah, Ryan's friend, gave him a good verbal ass whipping when needed. I was glad how the story ended. I hope to read more of this couple.

Scott Hunter is the captain of the New York Admirals hockey team. He's closeted but that may end when he walks into the smoothie shop where Kip works. Instant attraction hits them both but they have to be cool about it. The Admirals are making a run for the playoffs and want the Stanley Cup.

I loved Scott and Kip. I could understand the feelings both had and why they had those feelings. Both came a long way in their communication to get to a comfortable place. I liked the friends and family of Kip's. Totally supportive. I also liked Scott's teammates with their support.

The narrator, Tor Thom, was excellent. He did all the voices. Excellent production.

I enjoyed this story. I liked Heidi and her submissiveness though she had the power to bring Kaiser to his needs. I liked her friend Lenny who always looked out for her and had her best interests at heart even if he didn't agree with her. Kaiser was tough but Heidi had him and knew him better than he knew himself. I look forward to more books from this author.

I knew I would have trouble with this story as it is painful. I had the printed book but could not get into it so I bought the audiobook. I am glad I did. The narrator is fantastic. Since the book is written in dialect I was having trouble getting into it. Hearing it read improved it. I loved the cadence of the narrator's voice. I also loved the emphasis put on certain parts especially at the end. The singing was also good. Being able to read and listen at the same time enhanced the story.

I loved Adunni and Ms. Tia. Both work for the betterment of women's lives in Nigeria though in different ways. Adunni by not shutting her mouth when she has questions or feels she must be heard. Ms. Tia by helping Adunni get out of her current situation and, unfortunately, after experiencing what too many women go through because of superstitions, having her eyes opened to see where she can now help. This book is painful because it shows how devalued women are. It was hard to read because of that but it does end on a happy and hopeful note. Adunni's future looks bright as does Ms. Tia's. Worth the read and listen.
