Historia
Darrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society's mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.

This book is friggin sick
Revisado: 05-23-22
I just finished the first three books. I have only positive things to say. I love the writing and the interpersonal interactions the characters share. The action is exciting and gripping. I became heavily invested in the story. I’m newer to reading fantasy but this one is excellent. It can become a bit gory for some but this is an exciting story.

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

More about the world than the characters
Revisado: 02-27-22
I read the whole series and also most of The Stormlight series. These are entertaining but I’ve noticed a pattern of Sanderson making the story more about an evolving world that suddenly has massive changes that happen to occur right when his characters are part of the story…
The characters have sort of predictable tropes and the story focuses more on discoveries and misunderstandings people had about their world and powers for generations that they suddenly just so happen to stumble upon. Same thing for the stormlight series. It’s different, not my favorite. But entertaining enough.
Narration on point as always.

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Hot Garbage
Revisado: 06-15-20
Another white apologist spinning a guilt trip left wing narrative that all white are bad. You marched in the 60s for Black rights? Who cares, still a racist. You’re white and there’s nothing you can do to not be a racist. So let’s all self reflect on how we can be less racist.
There is valid information presented, but it is diluted heavily by the authors bias and agenda.

Finally, actual tools to be assertive
Revisado: 04-02-19
I’ve listen to probably six or seven books about assertiveness or saying no, and this is the only one that actually breaks down the conversations and the techniques to do it. Such a breath of fresh air and I’m already starting to change the way I interact with people

Assertive Bill of Rights was empowering
Revisado: 01-24-19
I’ve read or listen to a lot of similar books on assertiveness, but The bill of rights for assertiveness near the beginning here was life-changing. Probably one of the most impactful chapters I could have read about the topic. Love them. I wrote them all down and look at them before I go to bed and wake up

Condescending narration
Revisado: 11-27-18
It’s hard to listen to this book because I feel like the narration is accusatory. I.e. quoteif you’re not this kind of teacher that I’m describing, you’re an idiot and you suck.“ That’s the vibe of this book. Nonetheless, there are good suggestions and ideas

For most of us, dating is often confusing, frustrating, and frightening. We look for the "right person" in bars, at school, at parties, and on Internet dating sites. But what happens when we find the right partner? 60% of marriages end in divorce, and only 1-2% experience the fulfillment both partners once hoped for.

Trying to sell his other books too much
Revisado: 07-02-18
There is a lot of good content in this book, but my only complaint is that he references his other book about 40 times and invites us to buy it instead of just talking about the content that’s in that book.

Short but good
Revisado: 02-18-17
Was hoping this would be longer. I love Wayne Dyer. This book was only about 90 minutes long.
The nice thing was that Wayne is reading it years later.. so he adds a little more wisdom and insight than the original book contained.
A nice listen
