The author has insightful opinions on French psyche: French fear of failure in language may explain why they are so reluctant to speak English; French way of treating mental anguish versus physical pain is the opposite of the American way…..

A prophetic tale that reduced me to tears. George Orwell was perhaps sent from the future, His gifts were not to be explained otherwise..

The incredible skills of the narrator makes the audible version a must when you may or may not have read the print version.

I wish more people would read this book and for the ones who did, I hope they realize as I did that this is not a book about food, but a book about the philosophy of life

Mediocre Work from Mr. Mediocre

This book is full of Cliché content and predictable narrative; the reading is phony with pretend voices for different characters. The French pronunciation is done poorly too and I’m no French myself.

The only highlight is the last chapter; no, it’s not because the book is ending, it’s because as a single child, I understand the author’s sentiment about his aging parents. His feelings are genuine here, yet it has little to do with French living, it’s as if he wrote the French part as a banner to draw people in so he can do an autobiography on his American childhood with his parents.

The author did a decent job in highlighting the issue of mass incarnation, but her proposals for solutions are undeniably biased and racist. As an asian immigrant, I find her dividing of America’s point of view along the white and black race lines is oversimplified and offensive too.
