This story never got going for me. The characters were very one dimensional and the story fell flat. I found myself not caring about the doormat and her hero and had trouble finishing it. I’d skip this one.

The narration was perfectly fine.

It pains me to write this review, as anything Suzanne Wright publishes is a one click purchase for me. I have read all her pnr books and decided I’d venture into her contemporary romance works. I should have stuck with the pnr.

Where do I even start? (This will probably be read as a jumbled mess of thoughts, but I just want to quickly review this and promptly forget all about it.) I struggled to finish this book. It never really held my interest. Much of it didn’t make any sense, from the mother of the h randomly marrying a death row inmate to a rich guy randomly falling for the h without any real interaction. I caught myself rolling my eyes every now and then at the drama surrounding the h. I guess when your town has one cop who hates you, anyone can do whatever they want to the h because there’s no one else to talk to? Huge hole in the story, but anyway.. Then we have the hero, who of course has his own contrived drama that felt totally out of place. I guess I’m tired of the 50 shades influence in stories where it simply isn’t necessary. Not every hero has to have a little bit of Christian in him. It’s boring.

One last thing I’d like to add, the story included recollections of what happened to some of the victims of the serial killer and what they did, also things the stalker did, that were incredibly disturbing. They were mentioned as a matter of fact, and caught me off guard. I wasn’t prepared for that mental scene.

Anyway, that’s enough. All her pnr books are fantastic and I highly recommend those. But I’d skip this one, even if you’re a diehard Wright fan like me.

Perhaps if there was more world building I would have warmed up to this shifter police/camp type storyline, but I didn’t. The ending conflict between the wolf pack and the main female character didn’t even make any sense. Save your credit and pass on this one.

Narrators were perfectly fine. A+.

For how short this book was, it sure packed a dramatic story. Single dad Crew escapes the big city with his girls after being shot on the job. He ends up sharing a property with Tessa, who is hiding out in a small town and living a life under witness protection. Crew’s twin girls steal the show in this story. They bring Crew and Tessa together and the rest is history.

This story road the line between being darker than it needed to be with Tessa’s flashbacks and Crew’s traumatic event, and not dark enough. I honestly kept hoping we would see more on how Tessa brought down her ex. I think the story would have benefited from a few more flashback scenes to embrace that darker part of the story and give it more of an identity.

Having said that, I was also hoping for a few more present day scenes to drive home the connection between Crew, Tessa, and the girls. I was hoping for a scene where Tessa would dance at the studio with the twins or have another dinner night all together. I wanted a little more lead up on how we end up with Tessa tucking in the girls at night like it was the new normal.

I know it seems like I didn't like the story, but I did. Perhaps I just needed a little more of it all.

Both narrators did very well and I enjoyed their portrayals of the characters.

This book managed to be in the darker realm of the mobster world and have a somewhat believable love story attached to it. I enjoyed it. I liked that the female lead wasn’t a pushover. She was a feisty little fighter and held her own time and again while she infiltrated the mob world in search of her missing friend. She was a perfect match for the male lead. The ending left a potential opening to another story and I look forward to checking the rest of the books in this series.

The narration was great. The accent for Mack’s character was perfect.

My review of this book could likely be a case of the ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ opinion, but alas, it is what it is. I have strong feelings against stories that revolve around main characters protecting each other by keeping their feelings secret and eventually seeing themselves grow apart because of it. It’s a pet peeve of mine and I really dislike this type of story. Unfortunately for me, this theme took up the entire book. The blurb didn’t allude to the book going in this direction, or I would have skipped it. I gave it barely 3 stars for the flashbacks scenes and the epilogue.

The narration was good overall. Jacob Morgan was excellent and Erin Mallon was okay. She felt a bit flat or monotone a few times.

I’d been looking forward to Dylan’s book the entire series. Grumpy Wolf and Dylan were so fun and funny together! Of course we get reunited with the Thomas gang and head back home a few times throughout the story, which I loved. And overall, I enjoyed the book, but it wasn’t a slam dunk for me.

If there was one thing I could have done without, it would be the whole navy seal aspect of the story. Wolf was already a wealthy family owner of an NHL team, and the believability factor took a nose dive with his seal involvement. While I certainly understand we don’t read romance for its believability factor, it gave me an eye rolling vibe and took me out of the story a little. I would still recommend reading the last book in the series.

Sarah McEwan and James Gloucester were excellent once again. They are such a great narration duo. I really, really enjoy them.

A privileged, rich city girl visits a farm to research a potential new job and get away from her ex boyfriend drama in the city. What she finds is a broken cowboy she can’t help but be attracted to. But can she bring him back from the pain and loss that consumes his life?

I’m a sucker for a heartbroken hero. This one had me in my feels at times. I enjoyed the book and listened to it in one day. I purchased this read as part of a sale at some point, and haven’t read any other books in this series. I’ll be sure to check them out in the future.

I think this was my first time listening to the female narrator, Renee Givens, and she was great! Both her and Rob Howard did an excellent job.

I don’t have too much to say about this book. I felt it started off strong, and it certainly had its moments, but I simply couldn’t buy into the plot twist. I found myself rolling my eyes at the quarterback playing detective. The book did end on a good note with an enjoyable epilogue, but was otherwise a middle of the road average read.

The narration was excellent.
