Agatha Award-winning author Rhys Bowen’s charming combination of intrigue and romance blended with a touch of humor shines when performed by Audible Hall of Fame narrator Katherine Kellgren, whose deft range and impeccable accent work make it hard to believe this isn’t a multicast performance.

This is a very interesting series. Lots of potential, I think. This is the first in the series. I kept coming back to it to find out what would happen.

Good prequel.

I liked the humor in this book and how the royals treat each other. Quite different than the Massie Dobs books where everything is so prim and proper.

Historia
Stocking stuffers like handknit scarves make the coziest of Christmas gifts—unless they're used as accessories for murder! When grinchy thefts steal the good cheer at a local nursing home, Siobhan O'Sullivan manages to identify one missing item before the tractor parade—a hideous shamrock scarf wrapped around a very dead body. The festivities go cold at Pans 'N' Pancakes the instant a diner dies while knitting a brilliant green scarf. Suspects pile up when frosty-tempered Carys Walnutt is found strangled by a handmade scarf auctioned at Arborville's tree-lighting ceremony.

Knit and Nibble
Revisado: 12-26-24
This was a surprising book because I was not familiar with series. Someone who likes to cook or knit would absolutely love it! I found it just a bit annoying that author seems to go out of her way to work the cozy formula. She constantly makes reference to the home baked food, the use of wedding china for everyday , the cloths people wear, or lots of other homey things.

Historia
To the costermongers of Covent Garden Eddie Pettit was a gentle soul with a gift for working with horses. When Eddie is killed in a violent accident, the grieving costers are skeptical about the cause of his death. Who would want to kill Eddie - and why? Maisie Dobbs' father, Frankie, had been a costermonger, so she had known the men since childhood. She remembers Eddie fondly and is determined to offer her help. But it soon becomes clear that powerful political and financial forces are equally determined to prevent her from learning the truth behind Eddie's death.

There is definitely character development in this series. I can almost predict how the series will develope with WWII looming in the future. The books should definitely be read in order.

Historia
Captain Ahab was neither my first husband nor my last. This is destined to be remembered as one of the most-recognized first sentences in literature - along with "Call me Ishmael." And Una Spenser, the transcendent hero at the center of Ahab's Wife may well become every bit as memorable as Ahab. Inspired by a brief passage in Moby Dick, Sena Jeter Naslund has created an entirely new universe - an epic-scale, enthralling, and compelling saga, spanning a full, rich, eventful, and dramatic life. In the "soprano voice" whose absence critics lamented in Moby Dick - the strong, intelligent voice of a woman whose life is dominated by the sea - Naslund tells many stories.

The flowery language got a bit much after a bit. I don’t quite understand the ending, but it was basically happy.

But dig a bit deeper, and there’s always much more to find.

I love this author, but this is definitely not a cozy mystery. It has a completely different feel than the Irish Village mysteries. At first I didn’t like it so much. It grew on me.
