Historia
In the dead of night, a farmer confronts the intruders of a break in, having no idea that the encounter will leave him dead. What’s more chilling is the truth of what the perpetrators were willing to kill for. At the scene, DS Roy Grace senses that this is no mere botched robbery; it’s the tip of the iceberg of a nationwide crime epidemic. Ruthless gangs, operating with military precision, have discovered a new black market flourishing in the shadows – an unthinkable source of wealth even more profitable than drugs.

Revisado: 08-07-23
The Killing Place is the latest book in the wonderful Inspector Wesley Peterson series by this author. Fast paced with great characters the author seamlessly weaves the historical storyline and the present day one together until they culminate in a shocking climax and a very satisfying conclusion. Highly recommend!

Disjointed and Confusing
Revisado: 05-26-23
This abridged version is very difficult to enjoy. The story is chopped up in a very disjointed way and all the characters sound like caricatures. Give this listen a pass.

This is the 26th Detective Wesley Peterson book and is just as enjoyable and entertaining as those that preceed it. If you enjoy a good contemporary police procedural try this series. One thing that makes it unique is the historical story that runs parallel to the main plot.

Historia
Niall and Eden Paternoster start their Sunday the same way they always do - with a long drive, a visit to a country house and a quick stop at the local supermarket on the way home. But this Sunday ends differently - because while Niall waits and waits in the car park for Eden to pick up supplies, Eden never returns. She’s not waiting for him at home, and none of their family or friends have heard from her. Gone without a trace, Niall is arrested on suspicion of her murder.

Historia
On the first snowy night of winter, Detective Inspector Vera Stanhope sets off for her home in the hills. Though the road is familiar, she misses a turning and soon becomes lost and disorientated. A car has skidded off the narrow road in front of her, its door left open, and she stops to help. There is no driver to be seen, so Vera assumes that the owner has gone to find help. But a cry calls her back: a toddler is strapped in the back seat.

Historia
First-year detective Kathleen Doyle is a plucky Irish redhead of humble origins and modest means. Chief Inspector Michael Acton is her antithesis: a British lord turned cop. He's tall, handsome, and enigmatic - to a fault. He also has a knack for solving London's most high-profile crimes. Acton selects Doyle out of the newbie squad to partner with him on a series of investigations because she always knows when someone is lying - a trait that comes in handy when interviewing suspects and witnesses.
