Unexpected story
Revisado: 04-13-19
Thorough explanation of how civilisation has developed and why it is now regressing. The reason the author himself is so strong and successful becomes evident from the philosophy he follows. The story is told from a Jewish perspective with some sensitivity towards Christianity. Of course there will be disagreement of who are Gods chosen people today but it is a historic matter which does not affect the underlying message.
This book is recommended listening. While there are just four core points that matter, there is so much philosophical reasoning covered that I will need to listen to the book several times. I mostly listen to audible while driving, which makes pausing and rewinding impractical.

Historia
When a pseudonymous programmer introduced “a new electronic cash system that’s fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party” to a small Online mailing list in 2008, very few paid attention. Ten years later, and against all odds, this upstart autonomous decentralized software offers an unstoppable and globally-accessible hard money alternative to modern central banks. The Bitcoin Standard analyzes the historical context to the rise of Bitcoin, the economic properties that have allowed it to grow quickly, and its likely economic, political, and social implications.

Broad explanation of what money is
Revisado: 09-08-18
I found this book fascinating. Most of the book carefully explains what makes money valuable and the historical pitfalls of various media used in the past. In hindsight the approach taken by the author has left me feeling confident that I understand what money really is and its pitfalls. I feel more secure in my approach to digital currency , what it is and what is in not. I recommend the book to every school child as basic reading! Of course the IMF wont let that happen. The technicalities of Bitcoin are covered in simple terms so if you want in depth knowledge specific to Bitcoin then you need to find it elsewhere, a hardcopy book would be a better medium for that. Certainly listen to this book before jumping into technicalities as the real issues are around trust, money hardness and the massive fight brewing against fiat currency.

What did you love best about The Second Thoughts of an Idle Fellow?
This is classic British humor. As the story was written written in 1886 I never imagined it would appeal to my modern sense of humor. I was wrong. Any fan of Monty Python, Dilbert or The Far Side will find themselves rolling on the ground laughing. I have been surprised by the interest from my 8 year old son. He makes a point of taking this audio book to bed with him. I dont have to worry about foul language that soils modern commedians, Jerome uses delightfully descriptive launguage which everyone in the house appreciates and understands.
What other book might you compare The Second Thoughts of an Idle Fellow to and why?
Three men in a boat, by the same author. It follows the same format of being a collection of short stories. If you are not quite satisfied with one story then there will be a dozen others that appeal.
Which character – as performed by Peter Joyce – was your favorite?
I enjoyed them all.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
“I like work: it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.”
Any additional comments?
Listen to all Jerome's books read by this narrator. I am!

Effective philosophy for success
Revisado: 11-05-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This should be compulsory reading for everyone. Mr Hill explains in very practical terms how to be successful. His advice is very simple and easy to actually carry out. You will become very rich, in spirit and financially, even if you only follow one of his points. His experience is based on 20 years of research and interviews with highly successful leaders. He has broken down their traits into the 'laws of nature'. He explains how nature works and, in his witty way, how you can make use of it too. This is not a 'motivational' book that would leave you feeling inspired but with nowhere to go. Mr Hill has a message that is permanently effective as you will start to change the way you think about things, or start to use your 'noodle'.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Napoleon Hill in His Own Voice?
His explanation of definiteness of purpose is fundamental to faith and success in all its forms. It does not matter whether you are religious or not in order to understand this, he explains how faith actually works.
What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The series is narrated by Mr Hill himself. The series just oozes with his witty and enthusiastic approach to life. He is clearly enjoying what he does and is getting paid to do it. This is how everyone should feel about life.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Think and grow rich
Any additional comments?
