The humor in everything

Christmas is stressful for some, stress free for others and downright challenging at the best of times for all. The individual anecdotes are absolutely captivating and relatable—even for Americans.
That’s what this book showed me.
But what it taught me is a lot more important.
What it taught me was that it is one day on the calendar that we all handle differently. It made me more appreciate the season for all its finery and flaws. Respecting cultural traditions, appreciating friend, family and friends that are family, its importance in our societal structure and the acceptance/love for others is the best lesson of the Season.
And that makes it a pretty damn good book.

Loved this a lot!!. As someone who has followed Scalzi forever and worked in NYC city government (on the City Council actually), this book is brilliant!!! But there has to be more of a story to build on here!!

Wasn’t what I expected…and it was glorious

I just going to say ….this book was not what I expected and it was better than I could have hoped for as an audiobook.
And honestly, this narrator was utterly EXCEPTIONAL in his character portrayal and delivery. I got lost in the narrative b/c of the narrator….and that’s why I loved this book.
To be clear, I was giving up by when Abbott went on his mad incel rant….only to have Ether walk him off the ledge and realize what he was really angry at.
It is a great redemption adventure story….

The funny thing is, Joshua has had nothing but solid books for me. But this was, for reasons I suspect he knows well by now, was a massive fail. It injected narratives that have opinions which have been largely dismissed or derided as more from a sacramental source rather than scientific. It feels as though Calvert injected personal politics into a book where politics would have, in reality, very little impact in the final analysis.

The narration made this book

Often books like this are challenging to follow. Indeed, in this case, the switching of timelines made you more aware after the first chapter. Thats why, if you are as big an Audible fan as I am (over 2200 titles&counting), the narration is critical to a audiobook’s success. In this case, I loved this book from the jump because the narration was pretty darn good on top of an already strong story.

The entire book from start to finish

This book had me from word one….and that doesn’t always happen. The author wrote an exceptional and narrators were a perfect combination.
And now I find out there is no other books in the series on Audible. WHAT THE HELL?!?!
Don’t know what actor-Amazon/Audible contract nonsense is happening or whatever it might be, but get it fixed and get the rest of these books on Audible as soon as possible. This book won’t work nearly as well in print.
Thanks in advance from a 13 year Member of the Audible family.

This was, once again, one of the funniest, most enthralling fiction podcasts I have ever listened to….the cast is amazing, the writing is captivating and it just makes me want more of this story!!
