Abridged reading

After listening to 2 different samples we settled on this one. The recording sound was not of the usually high standard. The sound effects while lovely were so loud that it was hard to hear the narrator.
Listeners must be aware this in an abridged reading...
Am usually so impressed by Audible.. ..this one sadly left us feeling short changed.
with the dollar rand exchange it was an expensive bad choice.

The children enjoyed this although the humour of crossing two well known fairy tales seemed to be lost on them.
The narrators voice was animated and interesting.

Immerse yourself in the past

What a beautiful rendition of the door in the wall. My 10 year old loved the old style English and we both enjoyed the sound effects; whether a bell tolling or harp playing. The vivid descriptions bring the scenes and time period to life. The battle scenes were particularly gripping to my 8 year old son. A truly enjoyable listen.

I have just ordered a copy read by another narrator. I ploughed through about 4 chapters but really struggled with the narration and voices he uses to portray some of the characters.

Educational and fun

A great combination of fantasy and education. The story paints a wonderful description of life in another time .The introduction of Aristotle was a clever way to make philosophers of old a household name to this generation.
