Another win with lots to think about
Revisado: 04-11-25
I’ve been a Hunger Games fan since it came out and always wonder how another one will fair in the original series. And once again Suzanne Collin’s pulled out a winner with new compelling characters and callbacks that for me never felt contrived. Learning more about Hamish and the gang made me even more interested to continue a deeper dive into others. I would be open to more.

Enjoyable All The Way
Revisado: 12-11-24
It took me a few chapters to get fully in but once I was there it was a fun and interesting ride through 1870s London in a time that men’s clubs were in power and women had to fight for work and dignity. I love how the author writes women and appreciate the sapphic undertones in her work. If you like occult and mystery it’s worth a go.

Enjoyable & Well Told Story
Revisado: 11-22-24
Very entertaining storytelling! I appreciate a clear and easy to follow POV change and even switching through centuries of time it was easy to follow who we were with and why. If you’re a fan of Aqua Tofana you’ll like this story of women protecting women and following their callings even when it’s hard.

Like a Hug from a friend
Revisado: 09-19-24
Listening to Maggie share her story and insights was warm and comforting. As someone who had read “all the self help books” and was certain there’d never be one to make me feel anything ever again. I was so wrong bc.. I felt!! So much! And I cried and felt held and empowered and it was exactly what my chronically ill self needed. Thank you Maggie and The 3 Things.

Love this series!
Revisado: 03-14-24
I love this series. The books the show, both are equally entertaining. My only complaint is the way the narrator says “Sloth” with a long O it drives me mad! But easily overlooked.

Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

Origin Story Winner
Revisado: 12-12-23
I love a good origin story and this covered so much of the beginnings of both Snow and The Hunger Games themselves. Seeing how propaganda infiltrates generations of people creating the deep separation and otherness that drives it all.
Enjoyed the narration for the most part. Struggled through some of the female dialogue and singing but the majority was well done.

Historia
In Unmasking Autism, Dr. Devon Price shares their personal experience with masking and blends history, social science research, prescriptions, and personal profiles to tell a story of neurodivergence that has thus far been dominated by those on the outside looking in. For Dr. Price and many others, Autism is a deep source of uniqueness and beauty. Unfortunately, living in a neurotypical world means it can also be a source of incredible alienation and pain.

Every autistic and allistic person should read this!
Revisado: 09-28-22
As a late in life diagnosed autistic woman this book hit on so many points I lived and never knew why. So many things I related to that I masked and hid from the world and myself and why it’s so important we talk about and destigmatize autism, all neurodivergence and disabilities.

Historia
Multiverse travel is finally possible, but there’s just one catch: No one can visit a world where their counterpart is still alive. Enter Cara, whose parallel selves happen to be exceptionally good at dying—from disease, turf wars, or vendettas they couldn’t outrun. Cara’s life has been cut short on 372 worlds in total. On this dystopian Earth, however, Cara has survived. Identified as an outlier and therefore a perfect candidate for multiverse travel, Cara is plucked from the dirt of the wastelands.

Hadn’t heard of this book before listening. I really enjoyed it. The story is unique; a little hard to follow but once you get into it you work it out. Loved the performance, she didn’t wonderful distinctive voices. I’m a big sci-fi nerd so this hit the spot
