A wealthy federal judge, there’s no short list of people who could have a vendetta against Sands, but the gruesome murders, especially that of his children, turn their St. Paul community on its head. Sand was on the verge of a major donation to a local housing charity, Heart/Twin Cities, and with the money in limbo, eyes suddenly turn to his grieving widow, Margaret Cooper, to see what she might do with the money.

Revisado: 10-13-23
The narrator was disappointing as I enjoyed Richard more. The story was not as good as earlier ones but it kept my attention. I hope that they continue and stay at least this good.

The Department of Homeland Security and the NSA have tasked her with infiltrating a hacker group, known only as Ordinary People, that is intent on wreaking havoc. Letty and her reluctant partner from the NSA pose as free-spirited programmers for hire and embark on a cross country road trip to the group’s California headquarters.

Good. It not great.
Revisado: 05-01-23
I have consumed everyone of Stanford’s books. Started from scratch and it took me two years. So, I kinda consider myself a true Sandford aficionado. This book, in my humble opinion, was not up to his normal par. It was ok. It kept a readers attention. But, it seemed as if Letty’s character is becoming too outrageous. Lucas’s character was more believable as our the rest. She is a kid who works for a Senator not the premier black ops operator for the country. Just a little over the top. But hey, it’s fiction and you can do whatever you want with fiction. Just my opinion. I would tone her down a tad.

Virgil's always been known for having a somewhat active, er, social life, but he's probably not going to be getting too many opportunities for that during his new case. While competing in a fishing tournament in a remote area of northern Minnesota, he gets a call from Lucas Davenport to investigate a murder at a nearby resort.

Historia
.Lucas Davenport has seen many terrible murder scenes. This is one of the worst. In the small Minnesota town of Deephaven, an entire family has been killed - husband, wife, two daughters, dogs. There’s something about the scene that pokes at Lucas’s cop instincts - it looks an awful lot like the kind of scorched-earth retribution he’s seen in drug killings sometimes. But this is a seriously upscale town, and the husband was an executive vice president at a big bank. It just doesn’t seem to fit.

Historia
In Naked Prey, John Sandford puts Lucas Davenport through some changes. His old boss, Rose Marie Roux, has moved up to the state level and taken Lucas with her. In addition, Lucas is now married and a new father, both of which are fine with him: He doesn't mind being a family man. But he is a little worried. For every bit of peace you get, you have to pay - and he's waiting for the bill. It comes in the form of two people found hanging from a tree in the woods of northern Minnesota. What makes it particularly sensitive is that the bodies are of a black man and a white woman, and they're naked....

Great performance but the story was just a little slow
Revisado: 08-11-16
I thought that the performance of the reader was excellent. The story got a little long winded in places. In general, it was a good listen, held my attention and was entering.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to turn their brain off for a while and just be entertained. The author did an excellent job with regard to descriptions and detail.

I thought it started out a little slow but after a while you get to know your characters and you don't want to put it down. By the end it had me and the story was fun and interesting.
I would very much recommend this book for an easy, entertaining story.
The three different narrators did a great job especially the last one who had the whole Texas drawl and lingo down. He must be from there for sure,

What a series!
Revisado: 05-27-16
This entire series is excellent. McGarrity is one hell of a writer. The detail of the locations and the surroundings is riveting. This series actually caused me to take several trips to N.M. and see many of the areas that the stories take place in.
George Guidall does his usual excellent job. He makes the stories come alive.
I would highly recommend this series. Start with Hard Country, Backlands, The Last Ranch and then do the Kevin K. police books. I did it a little different but I think the above order would be the best.
