Historia
There are stories where the girl gets her prince, and they live happily ever after. (This is not one of those stories.) Jenna Lord's first 16 years were not exactly a fairy tale. Her father is a controlling psycho and her mother is a drunk. She used to count on her older brother - until he shipped off to Iraq. And then, of course, there was the time she almost died in a fire.

Any additional comments?
So, this is actually the first time I'm writing a review - even though I'm addicted to all kind of audio books (in particular YA paranormal romance, just keeping it light and delighting), so I was a little bit sceptic about purchasing this book (whithout a credit, I might mention) - but it was a good investment:
First of all: If you're looking for a nice teen love-story, that's not your audiobook.
The sotry is disturbing - but beautifully so. It's about love, taboos, desires - very basic desires indeed - like being loved and accepted just the way you are, however screwed up that might be - but what the author does, is to light up the shadows, not taking the simple road of black and white, but looking at those aspects of live, which can't be categorized into simple drawers, adding layers to it and telling the only version of truth there is - from a very personal view, the view of one person - Jenna (no idea how to write her name) - she's a

She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance - even her closest friends - and it seems her senior year will be more of the same...until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can't seem to stay away from him. What she doesn't know is that Luc works in Acquisitions--for Hell--and she possesses a unique skill set that has the king of Hell tingling with anticipation.

YA urban romance fantasy
Revisado: 09-28-10
This is a nice story and easy listening - with a mix of supernatural romance, a tiny bit of action (really only a little) and of course a lot of teenage hormones spilling out...
But what makes it really a nice listening are the two narrators (hardly ever had the joy of a good narrator managing different characters convincingly) who take turns telling the story for the two (or three, well you will find out) main characters
If you expect big action, a great teary love story or heroes who really deal with their "personal demons" - you might be disappointed... but for the rest of us, who sometimes just likes easy-going, typical YA urban romance fantasy (I would call it that) - this is your book!

intriguing idea BUT...
Revisado: 09-28-10
I have to confess I had high expectations as someone recommended Unwind, because I loved "The Hunger Games" - but it simply didn't live up to my expectations...
Even though the overall idea is interesting and the story is told by three different characters - so there would be a lot of potential to elaborate the idea of a "throw away body parts society" in more detail - there's no depth behind it, which makes you believe and ask yourself - gosh, what would it be to live in such a society?
The plot is somehow slowly progressing, like different parts put together, the main question ("Will they survive?") knotting the parts together. As the characters were not convincing to me I found myself simply not caring if they will survive or not...
So all in all, if you look out for an easy listening, because you know you will have to interrupt your audiobook several times anyway (ah, yes I should work sometimes too), it might be your book; If you expect an enthralling story, it isn't
