Great Story - Poor Audio
Revisado: 04-12-09
I'm a big Reginald Hill fan, and enjoyed the writing and storyline as usual, but the poor quality of the narration and audio overall really gets in the way of this one. It sounds like a very old recording has been tranferred to digital format, and suffered a great deal in the process.

Historia
Convalescing in Sandytown, Dalziel befriends Charlotte Heywood who is researching the benefits of alternative therapy. With much in common, the two soon find themselves in league when trouble comes to town. Sandytown's principal landowners have grandiose plans for the resort -- none of which they can agree on. One of them has to go, and when one of them does, in spectacularly gruesome fashion, DCI Peter Pascoe is called in to investigate -- with Dalziel and Charlotte providing unwelcome support.

Excellent!

This has been one of my favorite Reginald Hill Audiobooks so far. It's presented in a slightly unusual format; the first half of the book consists of a series of first person emails from one of the characters, and first person narration by Dalziel. The narrator is excellent throughout, and an interesting plot that keeps you wanting to listen on. Highly recommended!

Historia
Combe Island off the Cornish coast has a bloodstained history of piracy and cruelty but now, privately owned, it offers respite to over-stressed men and women in positions of high authority who require privacy and guaranteed security. But the peace of Combe is violated when one of the distinguished visitors is bizarrely murdered

I have always enjoyed the novels of PD James, and this is no exception. An interesting plot, evocative setting, and great writing as always. The excellent narration really does the book justice.
