Chaos of civil war
Revisado: 09-20-24
The author brings you through a labyrinth of chance and connection as you bounce from current to past events. He captures the slow growth of intrigue to the full chaos of civil war with its intersecting tensions of political and personal motivations. An exciting and eye opening read.

Worth the effort
Revisado: 08-27-24
The story is very good and I’m impressed at the choice the author made, writing in present tense, and from everyone’s point of view. It was done well but also made it a bit hard for me to read. I ended up listening to this audio book instead and enjoyed it very much.

Historia
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Not bad
Revisado: 03-29-24
The story was ok, not bad for a follow up to the rather epic battle. Something small and back to the heart of Dresden. I felt a little meh about the sudden backsliding of Harry into the first slam then think mentality he’d been fighting since book one. He’s worked hard for his brains and it was kinda disapointing to see him not even do due diligence at the beginning. Nice job on the reading, even if he’s no Marsters , the author did good.

Historia
William de Worde is the accidental editor of the Discworld's first newspaper. Now he must cope with the traditional perils of a journalist's life - people who want him dead, a recovering vampire with a suicidal fascination for flash photography, some more people who want him dead in a different way and, worst of all, the man who keeps begging him to publish pictures of his humorously shaped potatoes.

I’m very familiar with the story but hadn’t read/listened to the for a long while. Time has given it more relevance than it had when it was first released

Definitely worth the credit.
Revisado: 08-29-23
I love ghost stories and haunted houses but tend to be disappointed by even well reviewed stories. This one is everything I wanted. No horrible tropes of overly dramatic people being overly dramatic while they search out their obsessions. The characters follow their obsessions in very human and believable ways. No eye rolls from me. The story line is reminiscent of Shirley Jacksons the Haunting but not derivative. A lot goes on, every character has their point of view and motivations brought out. If you like fast, shocking, and gory stories this isn’t for you. The story is revealed through the characters, so if you do not like character development, this story is not for you. Enjoy!

Just be aware if you’re looking for tension and out right horror, this is probably too tame for you. Much more about people and reactions than you being afraid to turn off the lights.

Gonna take a bit
Revisado: 12-28-18
It is hard to catch everything the first time through. Some of the sentences used as examples get so repetitive I found my mind wandering and misplaced the actual point of the example. Worth it though.
