I really love the Tori Hunter series by this author! I have yet to listen to any of the author's other books, but if they are as good as the Tori Hunter series, they will be great too!

Loved the book hands down! It was a little slow in the beginning, maybe 2 chapters, but it does pick up in a huge way when you get to the meat of the book. It is SO worth the creditź8

This book was okay, not great!
Revisado: 02-06-22
This is the first book by this author that I have read or listened to. It may very well be my last as well. The gruesome murders and the way the investigation carried on and on was just too much like other books of this type that I have listened to. There wasn't any original content in this book, except for the character names. It was just so so, a book I could have really left on the shelf so to speak.

This is a great book!
Revisado: 02-06-22
I absolutely love any of the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. She really knows how to grab her readers and take them into the story. This book is deliciously long on audio, and by the end, I really wanted to read the next book, which hasn't even been written yet! Gabaldon makes the reader feel like they are right there in the story with the characters, like one might see Claire, Jamie, Brianna, or Roger on the streets of Edinburgh or Inverness or off the coast of North Carolina on Fraser's Ridge and stop to talk for a bit. It is really cool to recognize the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina! The backdrop for Fraser's Ridge is actually the city of Asheville, North Carolina, which I have visited many times since I was born and raised in North Carolina. My husband and I actually traveled to Asheville for our honeymoon 20 years ago. This book is well worth the credit you will use to get book 9 in this series. It is really good!

I've read better by this author
Revisado: 02-01-22
I don't know if I am just not used to reading this character's story or not. This is the 2nd book with Frankie as the main character. She finds missing people if they are alive and their bones if not. This story just moved really slow for me. I believe I like the books with DD Warren and Flora Dane better. Perhaps Frankie will grow on me, maybe she won't. This book was just not as riveting as Gardner's other books. Not as edge of your seat, what's going to happen next book. I can't say with 100% surety that it was a 5-star read, maybe 3 stars but not higher than that. I typically love Gardner's books but not so much with this one.

It isn't believable either. Don't waste you credit!

Thorne Manor has always been haunted...and it has always haunted Bronwyn Dale. As a young girl, Bronwyn could pass through a time slip in her great-aunt's house, where she visited William Thorne, a boy her own age, born two centuries earlier. Oh yum! A time travel listen!
Revisado: 10-20-21
I bought this book for the sole reason of time travel. I became hooked on time travel books when I first read the Outlander books. Y'all know that series, right? :) Anyway, Kelley Armstrong doesn't quite do the time traveling subject as well as Gabaldon does, and maybe that is why it took me a really long time to a) get through this book, b) a long time to enjoy reading it, and c) a really, really long time to see the underlying mystery of all the murders and to understand how Bronwyn is able to see them and help them cross over. I didn't figure out who the culprit was until Armstrong wanted me to very late in the book, somewhere around chapter 35 or 36. Usually, I can guess who committed the murder(s) within the first 15 chapters. That wasn't the case here, and I kind of enjoyed the fun of trying and failing to figure it out. Everytime I would speculate on who the culprit was, I was wrong.
I'm on the fence about whether I'll use my credits to get the other 2 books in this series. My favorite series that Armstrong writes is about the hidden town of Rockton. I started reading her books when the Cainsville series came out, and since that series was good, I bought the first in the Rockton series. This series I'm not so sure about because of the reasons set out above. I like books that grab your attention within the first 1 or 2 chapters and they don't let you go until the end. This series definitely did not do that for me. Your mileage may vary though. Maybe if you use your credit for the first book in this series you will enjoy it far more than I did. You might even buy the next 2 books in this series just to see how it all turns out. Just be mindful of how slow the book moves along, and that the author is not on her usual game with this series.

Historia
Isabel Delancey, a classical violinist, has always taken her comfortable life for granted. But when her husband dies suddenly, leaving her with a mountain of debt, she and her two children are forced to abandon their home and move to the Spanish House, a now-dilapidated manor Isabel inherited in the English countryside. With the house falling down around them, and the last of her savings disappearing fast, Isabel turns to her neighbors for help, not knowing that her mere presence there has stirred up long-standing obsessions.

This one took me a minute
Revisado: 09-30-21
I just finished listening to this book about 30 minutes ago. It took me a while to get into the story, to become vested in the characters and the plot. It is Jojo Moses after all, so surely it will be a great read, right? I read somewhere that this was her very first book. That said, if I would not have read her other books first, and this was the first book of hers I read, I would not have read the others.
Still, this book is good, but it takes a while to get into it. So, knowing this, use your credit wisely.
