Historia
Les Misérables is set in Paris after the French Revolution. In the sewers and backstreets, we encounter "the wolf-like tread of crime", and assassination for a few sous is all in a day's work. We weep with the unlucky and heart-broken Fantine, and we exult with the heroic revolutionaries of the barricades; but above all we thrill to the steadfast courage and nobility of soul of ex-convict Jean Valjean, always in danger from the relentless pursuit of the diabolical Inspector Javert.

A Profound Classic
Revisado: 03-18-25
This is a captivating story of tragedy, struggle, and beauty. One man's encounter with God in the person of an humble bishop was the tale of a miracle which continued to bless the lives of others. The narrator's voice suited this classic perfectly.

Eleanor Roosevelt was born into the privileges and prejudices of American aristocracy and into a family ravaged by alcoholism. She overcame debilitating roots: in her public life, fighting against racism and injustice and advancing the rights of women; and in her private life, forming lasting intimate friendships with some of the great men and women of her time.

I loved the story, the translation, and the narration. I liked the characters who who try to make the world a better place. Yes Don Quixote was jousting at windmills and yes Sancho got his proverbs mixed up but they were good company for about 2 years.

In one of his last recordings, Walter Cronkite provides an illuminating commentary on how the author came to reinterpret the Genesis story.

Historia
The Road Home lies in the shadows of Manifest Destiny and Wounded Knee; it is etched into the landscape of an old man’s memory and into the stubborn dreams of a young man’s heart. In one of Jim Harrison’s greatest works, five members of the Northridge family narrate the tangled epic of their history on the expanses of the Nebraska plains. They strive to understand their fates, to reconcile with demons of the past, to live in accordance with the land, and to die with grace.
