Historia
Do you dream of being on stage, a rock star shredding like a lawn mower, or serenading your loved ones with melodies that flow from the very depths of your soul? Let this guide be the bridge to those dreams. Just a short while ago, my dream was distant, like a fading star. I had a passion, a desire to sing and play, but I hit wall after wall. Every time I tried to learn, I felt more and more disconnected from the world of music. But destiny had another plan.

Historia
Why are certain people so incredibly great at what they do? Most of us think we know the answer - but we’re almost always wrong. That’s important, because if we’re wrong on this crucial question, then we have zero chance of getting significantly better at anything we care about. Happily, the real source of great performance is no longer a mystery. Bringing together extensive scientific research, best-selling author Geoff Colvin shows where we go wrong and what actually makes world-class performers so remarkable.

Historia
The small village of Kilbane is hosting a poker tournament at the local pub, and card sharp Eamon Foley, a tinker out of Dublin, is set to win the tournament. But when Foley is found at the end of a rope, it’s time for the garda to take matters into their own hands. Macdara Flannery would lay odds it’s a simple suicide, but Siobhán suspects foul play, as does Foley’s pregnant widow.

Fun listen
Revisado: 03-20-19
Fun listen. Thoroughly enjoyed the narration as well, with an authentic Irish accent and good American accent, and enough of a change between women's and men's voices to keep the story running clearly without being corny. Realistic dialog, especially notable between the children, who act and talk like real kids everywhere. I love the characters. All the books in this series are quite fun, but, alas, I have finished them all. Waiting for a new one!

Historia
America's first families are unknowable in many ways. No one has insight into their true character like the people who serve their meals and make their beds every day. Full of stories and details by turns dramatic, humorous, and heartwarming, The Residence reveals daily life in the White House as it is really lived through the voices of the maids, butlers, cooks, florists, doormen, engineers, and others who tend to the needs of the president and first family.

The French Chef has a Russian Accent
Revisado: 05-28-18
I enjoyed the book immensely. My only complaint was the accents used by the reader. The French chef at the White House apparently has a Russian accent, and all the southerners and African Americans talk very slowly with a southern drawl. And I mean VERY slowly. Ahhh dooo decla-uh thay-at awwwwwl suuuh-the-nuhs taaaalk lahk theee-us.

Historia
The year was 1917. As a war raged across the world, young American women flocked to work, painting watches, clocks, and military dials with a special luminous substance made from radium. It was a fun job, lucrative and glamorous - the girls themselves shone brightly in the dark, covered head to toe in the dust from the paint. They were the radium girls. As the years passed, the women began to suffer from mysterious and crippling illnesses.

Any additional comments?
Such an interesting and heartbreaking account of the history of the dial painters. I grew up near Ottawa, Illinois and had never heard of the Radium Girls! After listening to this fascinating book, I asked friends and relatives if they had ever heard of the Radium Girls, and they all said yes. Some had friends whose mothers, grandmothers or aunts died of cancer years after working as dial painters.
The book moves seamlessly between New Jersey and Illinois, and it is easy to get lost in the era - to imagine these young girls so full of life, the stylish clothes they purchased with income from their new jobs as dial painters, their pride in the contribution they were making to the war effort, and then the horror they felt as their health rapidly declined.
Definitely worth a listen!

Interesting explanation of the way the brain learns, and one fascinating topic is the value of learning a new instrument to enhance your skills on another instrument. As a beginner, trying to learn an instrument as an adult, I need all the help I can get! I think it would be helpful to take notes while listening, or purchase a copy of the book, so that the practice tips are easy to refer back to.

Historia
Here is Trump in action—how he runs his organization and how he runs his life—as he meets the people he needs to meet, chats with family and friends, clashes with enemies, and challenges conventional thinking. But even a maverick plays by rules, and Trump has formulated time-tested guidelines for success. He isolates the common elements in his greatest accomplishments; he shatters myths; he names names, spells out the zeros, and fully reveals the deal-maker's art. And throughout, Trump talks—really talks—about how he does it.

Interesting stories

Any additional comments?
Interesting stories and worth listening to, particularly for someone not in the real estate business as it puts into perspective the way big real estate deals are put together. If you are in the business, you will already know most of this, but the stories, particularly of the ice rink in NYC, are fun to hear. Regardless of your opinion of President Trump politically, this book shows his negotiating savvy and financial brilliance.
