Historia
Our leadership development programs teach necessary skills, yet we often train individuals who do not have the character to lead, which is a weakness because a leader with skills but no character can be dangerous. But a leader with character but no skills is useless. In this book, author, consultant, and entrepreneur Tim Clark shows how anyone can develop both character and competence.

A must-read for any student of leadership
Revisado: 10-06-22
I've listened to 48 books since December 2021 on topics associated with leadership, and this is a book I feel is worth reading if you only had to read 1 or 2 books on leadership to truly grasp the fundamental concepts of understanding leadership.

Great book for those dealing w/ toxic people
Revisado: 08-20-22
I will say that the author does go into detail about dealing specifically with toxic family members and partners (which didn't really speak to me, as this was not what I was reading the book for), but the material was still good, and overall the book had good information in helping identify toxic behavior and how to confront it. Additionally, the author also gives advice in self-care to help readers with healing from toxic people.

This audiobook is a practical guide that shows how leaders can build psychological safety in their organizations, creating an environment where employees feel included, fully engaged, and encouraged to contribute their best efforts and ideas. Perhaps, the leader’s most challenging task is to increase intellectual friction while decreasing social friction.

A "diamond in the rough" among leadership books
Revisado: 08-17-22
I've read over 2 dozen books over the last 8 months on the topics of leadership, trust, communication, coaching, and mentoring. I stumbled across this book as a suggestion from Audible from the other books I had previously selected.
I figured it would be a beneficial book to read; however, I was unprepared for it to be such an insightful spotlight on an oft-overlooked aspect of modern leadership. If you enjoy leadership authors such as Sinek and Maxwell, you will appreciate the content of this book.
As an insatiable student of leadership, this book has easily found its way into my very small and exclusive collection of "favorite reads".

Historia
Too many workplaces are driven by cynicism, paranoia, and self-interest. But the best ones foster trust and cooperation because their leaders build what Sinek calls a "Circle of Safety" that separates the security inside the team from the challenges outside. Sinek illustrates his ideas with fascinating true stories that range from the military to big business, from government to investment banking.

Another outstanding read from Simon Sinek
Revisado: 01-17-22
I read these out of order (not that there is a specific order), but this book very nicely complements Sinek's other leadership books, "Start With Why" and "The Infinite Game". While all of his books focus on the full spectrum of leadership topics, this one certainly emphasizes leadership as it relates to the people a leader wishes to influence. Moreover, Sinek dives even deeper into this book by expanding on how and why brain chemistry is affected by certain leadership behaviors and offers an explanation as to why certain positive or negative habits are expressed by others in response to individual and organizational leadership practices.

Good summary, basic overview of leadership

Adequate leadership primer. Good reminders for skilled leaders, but very general and basic concepts. Novices or those with no leadership background would benefit most from this book.

Historia
The Master Coach is based on the simple but profound 3Cs Coaching Model. This proven approach asserts that to master the art of coaching one must have an exemplary character that invites the trust of others, be able to form rapid connections with others at a deeply personal level, and have the ability to initiate and guide intense, attitude-changing conversations. At every step, Thompson reminds listeners that coaching is not merely about what the coach says or does; it's about who he or she is.

Insightful read for current and aspiring leaders!
Revisado: 12-28-21
In my continuous pursuit of being a more skillful and effective leader, I decided to expand my reading selection to include books on coaching. Little did I know that this book would contain exactly what I was seeking with regard to addressing what I knew was missing from my own organization's culture. I found many of the concepts in this book were things I already believed, but this book helped affirm my beliefs and gave me a deeper understanding which will enable me to communicate these concepts more effectively and practice them more deliberately with others in my organization.

This book provides concise, targeted information for police officers. The Fourth Amendment only prohibits one type of search or seizure, the unreasonable one. This book explains what those factors are. It is written in a checklist type format and officers around the country have expressed their appreciation for its down-to-earth writing style and easy-to-apply format.

Great resource and field reference guide for cops
Revisado: 12-26-21
Overall it was a good read and a valuable resource for officers who are looking for a readily-accessible field guide, as each legal topic is categorized and indexed for easy reference. My only complaint is none of the specific case laws are referenced in each topic. The narrator discusses the general summary of judicial precedence but stops short of actually citing the applicable case law that would allow readers to seek out and read further on such rulings to get a deeper understanding and greater context to certain cases.

Historia
Finite games, like football or chess, have known players, fixed rules, and a clear endpoint. The winners and losers are easily identified. Infinite games, games with no finish line, like business or politics, or life itself, have players who come and go. The rules of an infinite game are changeable, while infinite games have no defined endpoint. There are no winners or losers - only ahead and behind. The question is, how do we play to succeed in the game we’re in? In this revelatory new audiobook, Simon Sinek offers a framework for leading with an infinite mindset.

A must-read for any leader (or aspiring one)
Revisado: 12-24-21
Simon Sinek perfectly identifies the what many organizations are lacking today, even in the 21st century. Simon distinguishes the differences between a finite and infinite mindset and empowers the reader with tools and methods by which to embody an infinite mindset in an effort to inspire organizational change toward aligning a culture's mindset with the infinite game nearly all organizations participate within. As an added bonus. Simon narrates his own book. This draws the reader in further and makes the audiobook an easy listen, because it is clear the author truly believes in the contents of his book, and his passion for this topic can be heard through the voice of his narration.
