Historia
The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. With Professor Armstrong, you will dig deep into the ways that later generations reshaped the narrative of the medieval years and perpetuated the myths.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Historia
This is a biography of James Baldwin, author, one-time preacher, and civil rights activist. He chose David Leeming, a close friend and colleague, to write his biography and granted him access to his correspondence. Leeming traces his life from his birth in Harlem in 1924 to his self-imposed exile in Europe, his later years as political activist, and his public funeral in 1987.

This book has a great deal of biographical information which I liked. However, I found it kind of difficult to listen to.
The narrator sounded like he was forced to read it, and at times it even sounded like he was annoyed by it.
I think I’ll have to read this one instead. Unfortunately I could not finish listening to it. I think the narrator could make this book sound more exciting by actually getting into it. His voice has the potential for magic to happen.

In this intimate biography of the Prince of Soul, David Ritz provides a candid look at a star and a friend. Ritz had been collaborating with Marvin Gaye on his story for several years before the singer's tragic death and had conducted a series of extraordinary interviews in which Gaye discussed his deepest secrets. What emerges is a full-scale portrait of a charming but tortured artist, a brilliant singer with a divided soul.

Exquisite Details
Revisado: 06-18-21
The author did a great job in taking the reader into the singer’s life, up close and personal. This was enhanced by the narrator, who was on point throughout the entire audiobook.
In regards to the actual content, I had a very primitive idea about Marvin’s life and his struggles. While listening to this audiobook I literally felt like I was going through time with him.

Historia
Vince Ciacci wanted to be a "Made Guy". From the time he left the brutality of upstate New York's Coxsackie Reformatory, he worked for "Wiseguys", committing armed robberies, collecting for the Mob, and dreaming of the day that he would "get his button". He never made it into the Mafia's inner sanctum. Why? He was too crazy and too violent. Hooked on drugs and alcohol, Vince was a loose cannon, so dangerous that his own crew considered taking him out.

Not bad.
Revisado: 02-03-21
Redemption is always a great way to end a story, and I am genuinely happy for what people do to overcome their shortcomings.
However, it sounded like he often justified evading the law by attributing it to God. It seemed like a flagrant attempt to disregard self-accountability for all the bad things he did.
I wasn’t quite fond of how every part started with him introducing himself again. 🤷🏻♀️

Historia
The Titanic collided with an iceberg on the night of April 14, and 1,500 people died in the freezing waters as the ship met her watery grave. Spectacular in many ways, it's a story that has spurred legends and still sends shivers down the spine a century later. This minute-by-minute account of the sinking is based on over 20 years of research and offers amazing detail of that fateful night.

Great story, unfortunate event. I appreciated the perspectives from the rescue efforts of the other ships. I also enjoyed how the author glued the contexts in a coherent manner.
