Historia
Xenocide is the third installment of the Ender series. On Lusitania, Ender found a world where humans and pequeninos and the Hive Queen could all live together; where three very different intelligent species could find common ground at last. Or so he thought. But Lusitania also harbors the descolada, a virus which kills all humans it infects, but which the pequeninos require in order to transform into adults.

Great readers, awesome story.
Revisado: 01-19-15
I am always worried when I see multiple readers, but this series did a great job weaving between them. There are parts of the story that I feel were unnecessary, but overall it is great. Really makes you think. Possible the best syfy writer I've read.

A Feel-Good Story That Opens The Heart & The Mind
Revisado: 07-12-13
Wendy Mass did another great job creating unique characters. Combine that with another amazingly unique story and you have a wonderful book. With his 13th birthday just a summer away, Jeremy gets the best present anybody can ask for - the exposure to life that will forever change the way he views the world...all thanks to his dad (who passed away when he was 8).
The story had a rough start, but less than an hour into this adventure I couldn't stop listening. Mass ends the story with a feel-good twist that I have come to now expect from her writing.
It is a wonderful story...maybe her best thus far. Definitely check it out.

Historia
A storm. Rain-lashed city streets. A flash of lightning. A scruffy lad sees a girl leap desperately from a horse-drawn carriage in a vain attempt to escape her captors. Can the lad stand by and let her be caught again? Of course not, because he's...Dodger. Seventeen-year-old Dodger may be a street urchin, but he gleans a living from London's sewers, and he knows a jewel when he sees one. He's not about to let anything happen to the unknown girl - not even if her fate impacts the most powerful people in England.

Clever insight, interesting story, a good listen.
Revisado: 07-12-13
Terry Pratchett is at it again. In this clever, early-Victorian tale Pratchett opens our eyes through a clever story of the less fancy side of London. Mixing historical fiction with historical fact, we can't help but cheer for Dodger. While not as good as Nation (a must read), Pratchett does spin a very appealing tale. Stephen Briggs does another great job telling the tale.

Historia
Tiffany Aching has spent years studying with senior witches, and now she is on her own. As the witch of the Chalk, she performs the bits of witchcraft that aren't sparkly, aren't fun, don't involve any kind of wand, and that people seldom ever hear about: She does the unglamorous work of caring for the needy. But someone - or something - is igniting fear, inculcating dark thoughts and angry murmurs against witches.

Another Pratchett Gem!
Revisado: 04-13-13
In this installment of the Tiffany Aching portion of Disc World Tiffany is neck deep in hagging when trouble comes her way. Pratchett developed some of the peripheral characters while adding some interesting new ones. The NMF follow Tiffany into the city, and become a pain in the King's... Neck. You'll appreciate that more after a listen. Briggs does another fine job bringing Pratchett's characters to life. Let's hope T.P. has another novel for Tiffany to sort out some trouble... perhaps it can involve a daughter.

A DEFINITE-MUST!!!
Revisado: 03-29-13
The readers were GREAT...especially August. The characters in this story show the truth of kids. Yeah, sometimes they can be jerky, but, when it comes down to it, they are good...generally. This book shows what happens when you are true to yourself, and what happens when you look beyond the cover. A moving, heartwarming story about making the best out of a difficult situation.

Super funny
Revisado: 03-29-13
This is a fun story. It makes you think a little bit, and gets you rooting for the underdog A LOT, and then it makes you think a bit more about who exactly IS the underdog. Many applicable lessons to life, if that is what you are looking for. More importantly, it is a good, heartwarming story. Perfect for that 5th-9th grade range, and a wonderful read for parents with their kids for even an greater grade range.
I am not generally a fan of authors narrating their books, and this one did little to change my mind. By the end I was okay with it, though. Sherman Alexie has a very interesting cadence. There were times I felt his inflection/emotion didn't match that of the piece. But, overall, it has been one of the more memorable listens.

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Revisado: 03-29-13
John Green did an amazing job. Hazel is such a fun character, and yet so tortured. It is clever. Augustus is clever. This is a definite read/listen. I am doing my best to pass this book around my circle. Everybody who I've turned on to it LOVED IT...adults and teens. There are parts of the story that get a bit predictable, but you still hope against hope that they don't happen. And it tears you apart when it does. The most enjoyable book of this ilk since I read "If I Stay" (another definite-must!)

Revisado: 03-29-13
I will not lie. It started off rough. The first half an 10-15 minutes didn't grab me, but once they set on the road...WOW!!! I couldn't stop listening to it. Sean Runnette did an amazing job with Rinpoche. And Roland Merullo made me laugh, made me think, and came close to making me cry. I actually think I might have shed a tear. It was wonderful. If you are open enough to have come this far, go for it. You WILL enjoy it...after the first 10-15 minutes. c:

Historia
When 13-year-old Mia finally reveals a closely-guarded secret, it soon echoes throughout her school. She was born with synesthesia, a neurological cross-wiring that lets her see sounds, taste shapes, and smell colors. To Mia, the letter A glows with faded sunflower-yellow, screeching chalk sizzles with jagged red sparks, and her cat's voice puffs with orange-mango haze. How can Mia "the alien" find acceptance and self-worth?

A Cute Listen
Revisado: 03-29-13
This is a very cute book. I teach high school, and some of my kids turned this into a short play. They really enjoyed reading it. For me, the story dragged a bit in the middle. I thought it was Mia was a bit whiny and self-centered at parts (think Harry Potter in books 4/5), but then I remembered she was an 8th grade girl (no offense meant here). Overall, strong start and a super cute end with a LOT of interesting stuff in between. Wendy Mass really sparked my interest. Since this book, I went on to learn more stuff about synesthesia, and it has led me to her other books which seem pretty awesome as well.
