Adding to the success of the original
Revisado: 06-07-24
I enjoyed the original Total Money Makeover book and a few of the subsequent books, namely Complete Guide to Money and Baby Step's Millionaire, so let me just say that this audiobook encapsulates the same message echoed in all of those books. That being said, there are some nice additions to this with mentions of recent events like Covid 19 and how events like these impacted various people working through the Baby steps. He also incorporates takeaways from these events into the various Myths surrounding building wealth. I really liked the examples of people going through the Baby steps and the Myths around money he provided because it humanizes the core message surrounding this book, which is that this is a proven guide to help everyday people get out of debt and win with money.

Revisado: 01-13-24
This book truly surprised me with the lessons that were taught for both parents and for kids. It provides an excellent foundation on how to teach children about managing money, how to avoid certain money pitfalls, and how to empower children to make smart financial decisions. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
The issue of immigration stirs intense emotions today, as it has throughout much of American history. But what gets lost in the debates about policy are the stories of immigrants themselves, the people who are drawn to America by its promise of economic opportunity and political and religious freedom - and who strengthen our nation in countless ways. Out of Many, One brings together 43 full-color portraits of men and women who have immigrated to the United States, alongside stirring stories of the unique ways all of them are pursuing the American dream.

Revisado: 12-29-22
I picked this audiobook by accident because I had intended on getting the Portraits of Courage audiobook instead. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every minute of this audiobook and hearing all the stories of immigrants who now call the U.S. home. I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who has never picked up a book on immigration and immigrants.

Historia
Stephen R. Covey's book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has been a top seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity. Celebrating its 15th year of helping people solve personal and professional problems, this special anniversary edition includes a new foreword and afterword written by Covey that explore whether the 7 Habits are still relevant and answer some of the most common questions he has received over the past 15 years.

Pretty good all around
Revisado: 10-23-22
I mostly enjoyed this audiobook, but will admit that some parts were a little bit long-winded. The majority of the audiobook contains some solid advice and I did come away with some newfound knowledge. Mr. Covey does an excellent job in narrating the book and appreciated his easy to understand form of communicating. However, there were some parts that I believe were a little unrealistic or just sounded more aspirational than realistic. Most of the times, these were in the parts where he referenced his children and things like 7 hours of TV in a week span or 1 hour of TV per day. Regardless, I still recommend this audiobook.

Every leader must be ready and willing to take charge, to make hard, crucial calls for the good of the team and the mission. Something much more difficult to understand is that in order to be a good leader, one must also be a good follower. This is a dichotomy - a Dichotomy of Leadership. It is, as authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin explained in their best-selling first audiobook, Extreme Ownership, “Simple, Not Easy”.

One of the best books on leadership
Revisado: 05-10-22
This was just as phenomenal as their previous book, Extreme Ownership. The format is identical to that book and the lessons learned are just as impactful. My only complaint was that one chapter was almost an exact copy from the first book, but other than that I would still recommend it to anyone who loved Extreme Ownership. Highly Recommend.

Generic Self Help/ Motivational Book
Revisado: 05-01-22
This audiobook was about as generic as it gets in the motivational improvement book category. That being said, the author/ narrator keeps it lively throughout the book with a very active speech style. The first half is pretty simple, with lots of stories and quotes from people who've "made it" in their profession. The second half is a bit of the same, but even I will admit that I learned a few interesting things from the author.
I would be curious to hear the author write a book about his approach to relationships, both personal and professional. I believe that aspect of this book was what really caught my attention above everything else. Not much else I can add as it relates to this particular audiobook.

Pretty average
Revisado: 04-24-22
This audiobook was average at best. Lots of interesting discussion on swordmanship and things of that nature, but nothing that really stood out. It wasn't until the last chapter that I was starting to feel invested, but even then it didn't quite grip me like other books I've read/ listened to. Not a bad book by any stretch, but not exceptional either.
The narrator did a pretty solid job of trying to place context surrounding the work. He also presents a unique perspective on the work and explains discrepancies when it comes to the literal English translation of the text.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

There isn't any other audiobook quite like this one. To hear a first hand account of a Holocaust survivor is one thing, to hear it from the perspective of a psychiatrist is another. Add to all this his thought provoking discussion on logotherapy and you've got a masterpiece right here.
