Historia
At the start of the 22nd century, the starship Acheron is in orbit around WISE 5571, only, unbeknownst to the crew, the ship has been overrun by telepathic extraterrestrials. How do you fight an enemy that distorts everything you see? What do you do when you can't trust your own senses, let alone anyone around you?

So fun. Plays with a scary topic, absolutely mental.
Revisado: 07-22-24
Knowing what is real is one of the most important skills of modern times and we have to be brave to face indicators when our model of reality appears to be off. Loved this book as a fun exploration of these struggles in a visceral high stakes manner that borders on cosmic horror.

Historia
This wise, stirring book argues that the search for meaning can immeasurably deepen our lives and is far more fulfilling than the pursuit of personal happiness. There is a myth in our culture that the search for meaning is some esoteric pursuit - that you have to travel to a distant monastery or page through dusty volumes to figure out life's great secret. The truth is, there are untapped sources of meaning all around us - right here, right now.

Gen X guy here. These are essential life lessons, especially for us lost and disenchanted.

I read Victor Frankel's Man's Search for Meaning in high school. And aside from various existential philosophy studies did not really pick the topic up until 20 years later and I'm so grateful I found this book.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

It's a fun story with good performances. The writing absolutely infuriates the conservatives who are so wrapped around the Republican Party's finger that it's actually as fun to read the negative reviews. Freedom of speech unless it makes them uncomfortable. 😂

Historia
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

Historia
For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

Historia
Belisarius is a quantum man, an engineered Homo quantus who fled the powerful insight of dangerously addictive quantum senses. He found a precarious balance as a con man, but when a client offers him untold wealth to move a squadron of warships across an enemy wormhole, he must embrace his birthright to even try. In fact, the job is so big that he'll need a crew built from all the new sub-branches of humanity. If he succeeds, he might trigger an interstellar war, but success might also point the way to the next step of Homo quantus evolution.

This is what I’ve been looking for since I started listening to narrations..
Extreme worlds rife with criminals, saints, aliens, mutants, gods, ancient aliens, love, romance, heart break, desolation and despair. ,
The narration is strong, playful, human and makes the complexity and detail accessible to my modern attention span.

Historia
In The Waste, every fantasy creature, fairytale demon, or mythological monster exists. From orcs, to neriads, ogres, trolls, wraiths, elves, harpies, and even beastmen. They all exist, and all despise humankind. In the ruins of the west and east coasts, new governments have arisen. With new jobs. Vince is a Ranger, a profession whose sole job duty is surviving in the waste, and taking missions from the Ranger Guild. Be it courier services, escorts, or simply exploring tombs and cities.

Vivid, wicked fantasy with some... heated scenes.
Revisado: 01-23-19
I really enjoyed this author's unique take on a believable weird fantasy world. Randi creates a post-apocalyptic world while managing to keep the story upbeat and interesting. This is my first 'harem' fiction so I have nothing else to compare the saucy bits to. The first few erotic scenes were interesting, and after things got hotter and heavier over time, I kinda wanted to get back to the world building narrative I was enjoying.
Andrea Parsneau's narration was excellent and it made the book much more interesting. Things were somehow more compelling listening to a female voicing the male protagonist's perspective.

Historia
At long last, an extraterrestrial civilization reached out and made the First Contact. However, no one on Earth took their communique for the genuine article. In a similar vein, very few people appreciated just how little time our new suzerains had promised to keep our planet safe. Regardless, the end of their message showed humankind how to access a mysterious game. The objective of this game is unclear. No one can say where its servers are located, and its inner workings are beyond comprehension.
