Very 50s feel. Good job on everyone who worked on this. You get to see an interesting take for an alternate reality with a binary system.

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Really liked this book.
The narrator: I mean if you know who he is, you know he's going to do a good job. if you don't just know he performs excellently.
The story: lots of conspiracy stuff which I thought was a cool way to tie it in. lots of relevant references about social media etc too. good read for sure!

Historia
Richard K. Morgan has received widespread praise for his astounding 25th-century novels featuring Takeshi Kovacs, and has established a growing legion of fans. Mixing classic noir sensibilities with a searing futuristic vision of an age when death is nearly meaningless, Morgan returns to his saga of betrayal, mystery, and revenge, as Takeshi Kovacs, in one fatal moment, joins forces with a mysterious woman who may have the power to shatter Harlan's World forever.

Disappointment.
Revisado: 06-17-19
I'm sure the story is great, I was really looking forward to it, but it was absolutely ruined by changing the narrator (that sucked, but wasn't terrible) and adding horrible reverb to the book. I couldn't finish it, I've pushed through every other series I didn't like but this book annoys me so much that I stop it after a few minutes every time.
To top it off, it's obvious the narrator hadn't read the previous entries as he mis-pronounced Kovacs name.

Loved this book, made my dislike the movie, though
Revisado: 02-20-19
I loved this book all the way through it. I liked the characters, the robots and how the world was portrayed. I also loved the narrator, he did an amazing job with this title.
My only complaint is now I don't like the movie as much. It goes against the book in a lot of regards which would have been fine if it didn't include the same characters. I wish they would have done a TV Show based more closely on the book.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

Legendary book, I found it kinda meh
Revisado: 02-20-19
It's not to say I didn't like this book, I did, but I feel it didn't live up to the hype since some people seem to look at this book as a prophecy. I think if I hadn't hyped it up in my head, I probably would have given it 4 stars on the story. My biggest problem with the story itself was some of the very long sections where the main character is reading a book (in the book). They drone on for a long time and sometimes you forget what was happening outside by the time it's back in the present.
The performance was great and I'd gladly listen to any other books that Simon Prebble has read.

Historia
Jon Hawkins and his crew are exhausted and homesick. They've destroyed the alien machine menace, going deep into the Kuiper Belt to annihilate the secret A.I. base. From out here, the sun looks like just another star. It's a lonely existence. They're ready to go home. What they don't know - what no one could - was that the A.I. destroyer was only a scout. More alien vessels drop out of hyperspace. This is an A.I. assault. The clock to human extinction has begun ticking.

Still going ahead with these
Revisado: 03-22-18
What made the experience of listening to A.I. Assault the most enjoyable?
The voice actor has made some of the characters, just slightly less irritating to listen to. I applaud that. The AI and the Mentalist still have slightly annoying voices but nothing that can't be dealt with.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have done more research into the physics (at the very least, orbital mechanics) to make sure I'm being accurate and basing the physics on currently well-understood mechanisms. Or just left them to magic. The story tries to explain them but that just makes them less believable, not more. I also would have less religious discussion between characters; It's taboo to discuss religion in work environments and I don't think that it would be less so this far in the future. I don't have a problem with it but it does make the story less believable that everyone is talking about it.
What does Marc Vietor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think he's learning but then again, maybe the writer told him how he wanted them portrayed. I enjoy it simply because I don't have time to read anymore.

Historia
We don't know when it happened. But somewhere an alien species built a strong artificial intelligence. The A.I. became independent, powerful, and it started killing biological infestations - life - any life, all life. It grew into a vast armada of death. Jon Hawkins and his team captured the A.I. destroyer invading the solar system. The genocidal assault should have been over, but it's not. An alien A.I. strand from the cybership survived in the distant Kuiper Belt. The strand has been multiplying and taking over by turning people into robots in order to build another supership.

Still not sure I like this book.
Revisado: 03-22-18
Would you consider the audio edition of The A.I. Gene to be better than the print version?
Yes, I probably wouldn't have gotten through the series so far if I just was reading it.
Would you recommend The A.I. Gene to your friends? Why or why not?
I probably would for teen readers. It's entertaining but honestly has some issues that I just can't get past as an adult.
Which scene was your favorite?
Probably when Hawkins took control of the Jupiter system
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not particularly.
Any additional comments?
I don't want to be offensive but there are just some things in this series I can't get over. I understand it's Science Fiction but I get irritated by the breaks in physics (especially orbital mechanics) and I get annoyed that they attribute their successes to god.
I'm also irked by the voiceover of the AI since it's stereotypical of 80s AI in Sci-Fi. Meanwhile, I have my Amazon Echo which sounds extremely human by comparison.

Interesting take on an old concept
Revisado: 02-15-18
Would you consider the audio edition of A.I. Destroyer to be better than the print version?
Definitely, I simply don't have time for print books. Sadly.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The Centurion, a realist and methodical. Shame he didn't get more time.
Which character – as performed by Marc Vietor – was your favorite?
To be honest, I didn't like many of them. I especially disliked the Arbiter. I did however like The Centurion and Old Man portrayals.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Not really sure to be honest.
Any additional comments?
This book can be cheesy at times and it makes up technical language when it doesn't need to. It also has the tendency to try and over explain some things but not others. The entire time reading this book I kept thinking "Why haven't they radio'd out to anyone?" It makes it seem like communicating across the solar system is not feasible but in reality it is; For example, Voyager 1 which is now technically (I know it's debated) outside the solar system can still send messages to us (and does). It takes 20 hours to get here, sure but it still works. So that bothered me. It also didn't really get into the state of the solar system, what planets are colonized or what the political state is as it may have explained away the above.
I did like the book though and I do plan on finishing out the series. Especially since even though this book was somewhat cliche, the story they've setup for the next book is pretty great so I'm excited to get started.
Overall, I'd recommend this audiobook but I just warn you that you have to get through some of the voices done by Mark Vietor.

Revisado: 02-14-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
He has a great voice, I really enjoyed the few hours of audio. It would also be great for people who are interested in the topic, but as he says, are too busy.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Neil, cause Neil
Have you listened to any of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've seen him talk on several occasions. This was just as good.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction, not a great question for this sort of book.
