Historia
NYPD Detective Dom Carew can't forget the violent way his lover was killed in Afghanistan 15 years ago. The pain and trauma of her death still haunt him, and since then he hasn't let a woman under his skin. Until one incredible, hot and steamy night with stunning and sassy Daisy Fowler. Sexy, gorgeous, and hunky doesn't begin to describe Dom Carew, but Daisy's been burned by Dom before. A year ago, he bolted from her bed in the middle of the night without so much as a gee you were great in the sack, babe. Never laying eyes on his handsome face again is the plan.

Great story but….
Revisado: 12-26-24
The three books in this series have great plots and characters. The readings are very well done.
My disappointment was in the language and explicit sexual content. The language was continually filled with swearing - especially the “F word”. It made the story feel contrived and was distracting to the story.
The sexual content felt overblown. I’d like to think there are men in this world who don’t view all women as sexual objects. The physical descriptions of male characters’ attributes is basically the same for each man in the story. They are all bountifully endowed and unrealistically brave and creative. The women are constantly drooling over the beauty of their bodies (and likewise for the men) - when they aren’t in bed making love.
I recommend these books if you can move past the language and sexual stuff. As I said, the story lines are wonderful.

Loved it,

I listened to all 3 in the last 24 hours. Had to hear how it turned out. Loved the books, empathized with the characters, wish I could visit Lantern Beach and get to know them all personally!

Hope
Revisado: 02-02-23
The theme that holds this together for me is hope. There are so many depressing events that I kept asking myself why I was continuing to listen. The only answer I could come up with was hope. I kept hoping things would work out. It’s such a long story that I almost gave up.
Well written, but very heart wrenching.

This story of life-change in a devoutly God-loving and God-serving family has so much to offer to all of us, but especially those who have experienced ambiguous loss. Thank you, Tammy and Pat, for opening your hearts and sharing your family’s experiences and your faith journey through them.

Historia
From Steven Millhauser, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Martin Dressler and one of the most imaginative and essential voices of our time, comes a fable about a race of miniature people and the way of life they have come master within our own. By turns enchanting and provocative, The Little People explores the fascination and unease the little people create in us, examines our private desire to disappear into their world, and reveals what happens when our personal and romantic lives inevitably collide.

Creative
Revisado: 01-24-23
I found this story more than a bit bazaar in its initial listening, but after thinking more about it I can see parallels in our world’s handling of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, and all the other things we use to judge others. At that level it may have some value, but the strongest statement I can make is in the title….Creative!

Cute story except for all the effort put into making sure all the possible sexual choices were included. It felt contrived to me….and very, very long………

Historia
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

True life for so many
Revisado: 12-10-22
I had so many tears as I read this story of brokenness and destruction of a family. Although this is normal for many families, I praise God most of us don’t deal with so much heartache. Watching the dad/granddad stand beside his children even when none of them understands what is happening, is inspiring. I hope people in agencies dealing with these hurting people will realize how crucial their role is in informing all involved, and can change their vision of life to reach out with caring understanding to prevent this destruction from happening.
Our world needs love, understanding and acceptance in the hearts of all people.

Historia
An internationally famous photographer, Tucker Mason has traveled the world, capturing things other people don't see. But what Tucker himself can’t see is how to let go of the past and forgive his father. On a sprawling Southern estate, Tucker and his younger brother, Mutt, were raised by their housekeeper, Miss Ella Rain, who loved the motherless boys like her own. Hiring her to take care of Waverly Hall and the boys was the only good thing their father ever did.

Sensitive and gentle with a powerful message
Revisado: 12-03-22
Charles Martin’s books handle complex issues in life.
In WRAPPED IN RAIN several lives are redeemed through the gentle leading toward Jesus by a woman who steps in to mother two young boys and stands between them and the father who wishes they had never been born.
Charles Martin is fast becoming a favorite author of mine.
