Historia
On a hot August night, Lt. Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, speed through the streets of Manhattan to the Down and Dirty club, where a joyful, boisterous pre-wedding girls’ night out has turned into a murder scene. One of the brides lies in a pool of blood, garroted in a private room where she was preparing a surprise for her fiancée—two scrimped and saved-for tickets to Hawaii. Despite the dozens of people present, useful witnesses are hard to come by. It all brings back some bad memories for Eve.

Good, not great
Revisado: 11-25-24
This book is missing something, but I cannot decide exactly what it is. Not every story in a long series can be truly compelling and interesting. Of course, we can always enjoy following the lives of the ensemble characters.

Historia
Meet Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.

I've always wished the early books would have been performed by Lorelei King! She's nailed these characters and no other narrators work.

Historia
Jenna’s parents had finally given in, and there she was, at a New York club with her best friends, watching the legendary band Avenue A, carrying her demo in hopes of slipping it to the guitarist, Jake Kincade. Then, from the stage, Jake catches her eye, and smiles. It’s the best night of her life. It’s the last night of her life. Minutes later, Jake’s in the alley getting some fresh air, and the girl from the dance floor comes stumbling out, sick and confused and deathly pale. He tries to help, but it’s no use. He doesn’t know that someone in the crowd has jabbed her with a needle.

Really enjoyed this one. It amazes me how NR keeps creating different and interesting villains while also expanding on the regular characters stories.

Even Jack Garrett couldn't save this one
Revisado: 06-14-23
I chose this book hoping it would be similar to Linda Lael Miller's books, taking the chance because Jack Garrett narrated. But the heroine was off somehow. She didn't ring true and the mystery/danger part was very unrealistic with idiots who were supposed to be heavy hitter bad guys. Anyone who enjoys mysteries, thrillers and romances will find this to be off as it doesn't succeed in any of the genres.

Historia
A mid-air collision in the Alaskan wilderness between two small aircraft leaves ten people dead. Was it a bird strike, pilot error...or premeditated murder? Then an eleventh body is found in the wreckage: a man shot gangland style, twice in the chest and once in the head. In an investigation that reaches to the highest levels of government, justice may not be served, but Kate Shugak is determined that the truth will out, even at the risk of her life and the lives of those she loves most.

Love Kate's world and characters.
Revisado: 04-12-23
So appreciate the journey into Kate's world and appreciate another great story. I do wonder about the editing, as this book mentions Bernie's wife Enid as if she were still alive when she was murdered in a previous book. Then it is mentioned that there is a kitchen and food served at the Roadhouse when it is specifically mentioned in previous books that no food is served at Bernies.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author Linda Lael Miller has earned a large and growing following for her wildly popular novels starring the Creeds and the McKettricks. As her many fans will attest, no one brings cowboys - and their affairs of the heart - to life in quite the way she does. With the author’s signature style, Big Sky Country delivers a scintillating tale that you will not want to miss.

Disappointment
Revisado: 06-08-21
I love Miller's Creed and McKettrick series. This story was slow and boring. Very wordy and badly edited. I amost gave up and sent back. Are the others in this series the same?

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh, think and see clearly. It is painfully honest and yet that honesty can give you a feeling of relief and a feeling of hope.
