Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

It became clear to me toward the middle of the book that this is the story of someone who has romanticized many things in his life as a coping mechanism. We are all witnesses to his process (writing the book) of understanding and accepting things that have happened to him. It’s really quite “stream of consciousness”, and this book is a chance for Harry to FINALLY be in control of something in his own life. Yes, it doesn’t match up to other accounts, there are inaccuracies, he’s creating a favorable sense of himself, or any number of things people have pointed out, but I think if we looked at it through the lens of “processing” rather than through “accurate tell-all”, you may be surprised how different this book sounds.

Just okay.

I really wanted to love this book like I did the first one, but it’s just okay. It didn’t capture my attention, and I found myself wanting to just “get through it”. The first book was fabulous and had so much…heart! This one kind of came off as “we had something really good with the first one, so let’s capitalize on that”. I think there is room for Izumi to grow in a third book, but only if she actually gets time to herself. I hope the 3rd book (if there is one) is about her coming into her own so we can actually see her personality (since she doesn’t have much of one right now), hobbies and interests.
