Lisa Gardner's best characters are back!
Revisado: 02-07-20
I do not usually write reviews. I rate books, but I listen to far too many books to review each individually. I had to review this book, however.
I love Flora Danes. DD Warren is a fabulous, interesting and lovable character. But Flora’s character and carefully created background make for engaging tales with emotionally intelligent details and psychological undertones. This is one of my new favorite books. But make sure you start with the prior Flora Danes book from earlier in the DD series, or you won’t fully appreciate the artistry of this compelling novel. Kimberly Quince is also a wonderfully mastered character. She is introduced in the Pierce Quincy series, which is also fabulous.
I also enjoy this narrator’s style and cadence. The only thing that bothers me about her is her persistent mispronunciation if the word “macabre.” Otherwise, she delivers a fabulous performance!

An ordinary snapshot causes a mother’s world to unravel in an instant. After picking up her two young children from school, Grace Lawson looks through a newly developed set of photographs. She finds an odd one in the pack: A mysterious picture from perhaps twenty years ago, showing four strangers she can’t identify. But there is one face she recognizes—that of her husband, from before she knew him. When her husband sees the photo that night, he leaves their home and drives off without explanation.

Good book but narration was distracting
Revisado: 04-08-19
The female narrator did a fine job performing the characters’ roles, but when performing the narrative portions, the unending lilt is grating to the point of distraction.

I enjoyed every aspect of this audiobook
Revisado: 10-28-18
The detail, the portrayals of emotions, the characters, the sea life, and the accents were all perfectly written and performed. The only downside to finishing this book is that there is no sequel.

Great book, but heavy on left political leanings
Revisado: 10-23-18
While I appreciate that tort law lends itself to left political leanings, this tale is full of commentary on corporate financing of politicians, yet fails to mention how much money unions pump into political campaigns every year (particularly in California). The story line was great, but got a little tiresome with the political preaching.

Historia
It is January 1944 - and as Allied troops prepare for D day, Nazi scientists develop a toxic nerve gas that will repel and wipe out any invasion force. To salvage the planned assault, two vastly different but equally determined men are sent to infiltrate the secret concentration camp where the poison gas is being perfected on human subjects. Their only objective: destroy all traces of the gas and the men who created it - no matter how many lives may be lost...including their own.

They Might Be Scum, But they were German Scum
- De Jim "The Impatient" en 03-05-13
This book moved me to chills, laughs, and contemplation.
Revisado: 02-04-18
As the final line of this fictionalized try story stated, “50 years was not so long ago.”
Even now, 74 years wasn’t so long ago.
This heart wrenching tale brings the horrors of concentration camps to life, while simultaneously holding an underlying ethical debate with the listener.
The similarity of the characters’ names could be difficult to distinguish at times, but it also created a sort of unanimity among each of the characters’ social groups to demonstrate the intensity of the Nazis’ arbitrary and unthinkable line-drawing that leaves the listener pondering.
As an admitted Audible Addict, Dick Hill is absolutely the finest storyteller available on Audible. His passion and narration move this book through the chapters perfectly. Mr. Hill, Thank you for an outstanding performance.

I LOVE this author and series!! I love the way this narrator performs as well. It drives me crazy when narrators don't know how to pronounce things like, "forte." No problems like that here!
