Good and free
Revisado: 04-11-24
Surprisingly good story with good characters. Dixie is great. Only thing that bothered me is the reader is overly slow speaking on all the characters dialogue. He does different voices very well. I just wish he would pace character voices as normal people would speak.

My favorite Western movie, this book…….
Revisado: 06-15-22
I saw the movie about Jose Wales long ago. It was my favorite Western then and still is. I read the book after I seen the movie and was happily surprised because the book’s dialog and storyline nearly matched the movie. This was a good movie because it did not deviate from a good book. I listened to this book on audible and was pleasantly surprised again by a good narration of a great story.

The open range men are free-grazing cattlemen, those who don't own land but drive their stock through the country to graze. Boss Spearman knows that times are changing. Local ranchers are staking claims to grazing areas and building up extensive cattle empires. Boss has no quarrel with that, but he won't be intimidated or scared off. So when Denton Baxter makes it clear, by killing one man and seriously wounding another, that he intends to drive Boss and his crew out, Boss must make a stand.

Pleasantly satisfied
Revisado: 06-14-22
I read this because I liked the movie so much. However y’all know movies rarely capture the book. This was a rare moment for me because I reckoned the movie better in flare and action when halfway through listening. Yet surprised I was when the book challenged my opinion as I continued to listen. I enjoyed the more humanly realistic storyline. It’s worth experiencing movie and book and pondering on the differences.
